This is from the XS11 parts for sale forum:-
I am doing as catatonic bug suggested, I have one bike half back together. It is looking good, especially considering I am working in a 10 X 10 shed.
I sure could use a good SG seat pan or some info on how to fix a really rusty one. The front edge and parts of one front side is rusted out.
Suggestion 1)
You need a bigger shed.
Suggestion 2)
This salvage will work even if your seat pan is rusted into iron lace.
remove all the mounting hardware, clean up and repaint.
Sandblast the remains just enough to get the loose rust off then use it as a built-in form to build up a fiberglass seat pan.
(One layer of cloth underneath and a 3-layer mat + mat + cloth on top)
Drill through the new seat where all the holddown threads were and put M6 nutserts in from the top to retain the existing hardware in it's original position.
If the foam is still OK then re-use it, if not, find or make a replacement.
Put a Saddlemen replacement cover on and you are done.
