I do not condone the behavior of the bikers. People have to learn to let a small thing go so that it does not become a big thing.
But; in the video Bikers surround the vehicle and stop in front of it. I do not see this happening randomly for no reason.
Whole thing is not good. I'm sure their is more to the story.XS1100F TKAT fork brace Stock suspension. Vetter Fairing. Pingel Petcocks. Geezer voltage regulator

According to a previous story, this group surrounded the Range Rover then slowed, forcing him to slow also. One rider went into the cars lane, and the driver clipped the rear of the bike, knocking him down. The bikers then all stopped and surrounded the car. Apparently some threats were made to the driver, who panicked and left the scene, running over a bike or two in the process. It went downhill from there....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

I think that there is more to this story then the media iis putting out. I think something happened before what we see of the video. There had to be a reason that the suv was surrounded and the the guy slowed like that in front of him. Just an awful chain of events all around. I just saw a news story that was saying the guy that got ran over was was trying to help the driver. I just dont see it.
I ride and drive and if it were me and I was in my truck and surrounded by a mad gang, on bikes or not, I would have ran them over too. I would have thrown in some brake checks too.
The SUV driver could have taken out more if he wanted too i think he was just trying to protect himself and family. It could have been worse. I know people that ride with guns.

Like every other big story, we will never know the truth or the full extent of what happened. Did the SUV make a bonehead move and cutoff, or push a bike out of a lane 3 miles before the video shows thing happening? Did the bikers just decide to mess with this one SUV of all the other cars you see in the video? OR did the one biker just decide to see how close he could get to the SUV without it hitting him and miss judge it? All questions that will never be answered. By the time it all gets figured out, we will have a budget passed, and no one will be thinking about the NY bikers and the SUV any more.
Unfortunately, no good will ever come of it, and several lives have been permanently altered for the worse because of it. At least two bikers will probably never be physically the same, and one family in an SUV will never see another biker without remembering this event, and wondering what is going to happen.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

I have a feeling that if the SUV driver were truly at fault for starting this, the bikers would have made that part of the video very clear by now.Nate

Here, this is local news. One biker is paralyzed from being run over by the SUV driver, another has multiple broken ribs. I've seen the whole video and both sides are at fault, but understandably, the bikers suffered more injuries than the cage driver.
Riding around here in general is more frantic and dangerous than anywhere else I've ridden, but having grown up riding here, maybe I don't notice it as much as a visitor would. So the occasional out loud cuss or the one-finger salute would suffice and both parties are over it and on their way.
Seeing something like this, though, kind of 'resets' my attitude about defensive riding and keeps my 'spidey sense' full on.
Stay safe everyone.Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

I was reading comments on another site, and the explanation for the bikers behavior became clearer. When going out for one of these 'stunt rides', the group will detail some riders to slow or stop 'other' traffic so they have clear road and that appears to be what was happening here. Unfortunately, the SUV driver didn't know this; all he saw was a bunch of bikers forcing him to a stop and his paranoia took over, and I can't say that I blame him. The one rider miscalculated and cut the SUV off too short, with the known results.
Personally, I'll put all blame on the bikers; they were engaging in a illegal activity that went bad. If it had been me in that SUV there would have been more dead/injured bikers than there were...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

They were just trying to stay together?
I participate in group rides often, in this general area.
Once you are over 4 bikes you really have give up the idea that you will always be able to ride together every inch of the ride.
You will just have to regroup when the chance arises.
If you were in a car and, could not get off an exit cause a caravan of bikes didn't want to let you through you'd be pissed!
We all know the mismatch between a bike and an SUV.
If you are riding around like you have no concern for anyone but yourself and your group you won't get any courtesy in return around here or anywhere else.
It's unfortunate that neither side chose the high road and it escalated to the point were the SUV driver felt threatened. I'm sure both sides wish they were able to do it over.
As a motorcyclist and a human being; I wish this never happened.Last edited by Rickrod3; 10-02-2013, 02:20 PM.XS1100F TKAT fork brace Stock suspension. Vetter Fairing. Pingel Petcocks. Geezer voltage regulator

What I saw there was the "group mentality". Much like alcohol courage. A bunch of bikers trying to intimidate a man and his family? Don't need much of an IQ to see the outcome of that confrontation..
In this guy's place I would have did the same thing. Those bikers were not LEO and if they had a traffic beef they could used the good sense to get a license number and call the authorities. Whatever that SUV driver before this altercation was trumped the moment they tried to stop his car..
What does that make us look like when we ride in a group? People remember this sort of thing and they don't care about the details. Every bike rider gets mixed in the same bowl and we all are the same to a lot of people.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

A group of approx 30 riders (incl 4-wheelers) lane splitting and riding like a-holes will freak people out. My guess is that while trying to get out of the way of riders on one side, the driver of the rover probably came close to hitting someone on the other side and "revenge" was deemed necessary by the mob. One guy tried to brake check the cager who, distracted by his mob mates doesn't respond in time. The person paralyzed was trying to help the rider that fell. It's likely the driver couldn't see anyone in front of his car because they were below the grill.
Here's a whole hour of footage of their asshattery:

Apparently the police received over 200 calls about this group that day.1980 XS1100G ( ATK Fork Brace, Progressive fork springs, XJ1100 shocks, Offset Handle Bar Risers, Yamaha Fairing , Vetter luggage set )
