How much protective clothing do you wear?

Always the helmet... and a leather jacket, unless going for beer to the store. For around town gloves, for a bit longer stuff, leather jacket, leather pants, the works.
One ruined pair of jeans is enuff...

Almost always a helmet may go to the coner store with out 1\4 miles away. Full face or 3\4 if I want to smoke a cigar. Leather jacket except when its really warm Then I have a bright orange long sleeve hunting shirt that can be seen for a bout a zillion miles away. Always long pants and 9" boots got a scar on my calf from a hot xs650 exhaust to remind me. It was motorcycle lesson 2 or 3 I think. And bright orange reflectiv vest if I have to go on base when

i'm not wear the orange shirt.

This isn't protective clothing but it helps in that regard, I put a pair of air horns on the Mongrel and I toot them ad the first sign of some one getting too close.

came up right after a bike wreck today... ninja 500 on its side behind a Dodge SUV ..
the kid was walking around.. his helmet was laying by the front wheel( think he threw it there) and his ballistic nylon jacket was in the grass where he took it off... He was not paying enough attention and the suv stopped for some one and he punched her dead center in the rear.... smashed the whole front end of the bike..he walked away but they think he broke his arm... .. gear is good, but sometimes it still not enough.. atleast it wasn't as bad as it could have been...

How much protective clothing do you wear?

Always a helmet. I've burnt my leg several times on the exhaust. It's so hot that just touching it causes me 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the inside of my calf. I keep forgetting to put long socks on, boots or long pants.

Full face Shoei helmet, gloves (no matter how hot it is), Leather jacket - I finally got a vented one i have worn up to 97F with out problems (as long as I am moving). If not long sleve t-shirt (usually with XS logo ) alway jeans or long pants. I am going to buy a pair of those draggin' jeans next. I always wear boots I have a light weight pair of Master Ho specials that I wear when it is super hot, and a pair of steel toe leather work boots otherwise. Not 100% mister safety, but I try. Last years 'off ' would have seriously messed me up if my leather coat is any indication.

Do any of you folks ride with children? My 9 & 10 year old daughters want to go every time I push the bike out of the garage. It seems there is nothing available for them to wear in safety gear. I have them in children's leather jackets right now, but they won't fit next year, and they are far too small for adult clothing.

I'd like to be able to keep them warm on the back and cool in the summer. I want them safe and comfortable because I like their company.

Mine do on short trips, but as a single dad of 3, it makes it kinda hard to do much in long trips with them... they all won't fit.

I've just had them wear jeans and a heavy jacket, even in summer..

Heck, I haven't found a good jacket that i feel comfortable in yet..

Where I'm at in Hawaii, I don't wear the leather all the time. It's too hot at low speeds. However, I won't go over 35 without leather either. It's kind of a trade-off. If I'm not wearing the leather, I wear a Sweatshirt. It doesn't take much speed to keep cool in the sweatshirt and you can always take it off when you get where you're going. I always wear steel toed boots and jeans or heavy canvas pants (Found some thick Khacki's a while back) as well as gloves and a full-face helmet. I found gloves at the local hardware store that are reinforced nylon mesh on the back, padded at the knuckles and padded leather on the palms. Being a farm boy from Nebraska originally, I can stand to wear sweaty leather gloves without even noticing them really. With my new 1/2 leather, 1/2 nylon, I don't have sweaty palms when I get where I'm going anymore.

Most of my Khacki's are convertible to shorts with the zip off legs. Takes about 2 mins to take off gloves, shoes, socks, pant legs, helmet and jacket/sweatshirt, and put on flip-flops and I'm back in Beach Bum uniform...

Protective Clothing

Hey JDwags Try a Joe Rocket Baistic Series jacket . Has vents in both arms and back. Have worn mine in 70-80 Deg. with no ill affects. Warm as H..L in cold weather. Cost is high in Canada .Up to $350.00 at some dealers. bkr

thanks for the tip, i have been looking (or droolin) at those a few times.. almost got one on ebay but missed it.. b rand new suposedly and went for like 40 bucks.. (i had bid 39).. why hadnt i gone back and rebid the max.. i dont ' know..

I am a rhinocerous and my skin is three feet thick.

I ususally wear a heart that resembles beef jerky and a couple days of scruff to catch more bugs (saves money on lunches).

I really should wear more, but it's all I've needed so far.
