accel coils

Just picked up my fourth xs 11.
It has accel 140403 coils on it.
Po had doctored the wiring (Dr. Kevorkian)
Sorted out most of it ,Couldn't get spark ,so I borrowed coils from #3 bike,
Still nothing. Borrowed tci from #3 bike ... solved the problem.
Even though original tci tested as good.
I have read here that miswired accels can fry the tci.
These are the yellow coils 3 ohm.
There are no markings as to polarity (pos or neg)
Does it matter?
Also ballast resister WAS connected.Should it be?

Using 3 ohm coils, ballast should be eliminated, and leads plugged into each other.

+1 on that. The coils will work either way so no worries about pos or neg markings. BTDT and even messaged them to be sure. However do check them with an ohm meter and be sure the two are within their specs. I had some from brand new not right and had to send them back for replacement. I forget what the readings should be but you can access their site and the info should not be too hard to find IIRC.
Those coils have never missed a beat since installation and provide a great spark even for the colortune. Just wish the wires were not so bright of a yellow. Oh yeah, I do use their boots and wires with no resistors in them because I use the Iridium plugs that only come in resistor mode.
