  • VERY lucky!

My son was heading down the highway on his XS400 yesterday. Some traffic but well spread out, everybody doing about 100 kph (65 mph). Just ahead of him an oncoming car started swerving across both lanes, flipped and landed upside down in the ditch. Drew says the car missed him by no more that 3 feet. Whole episode took less than 3 seconds. Who says there isn't some higher power watching over us when we need it?

Other cars stopped to help, no cell service in the area so my son scooted on another 20 km to the next town and got 911 on a pay phone. No word on how the car driver made out.

Even if the car missed him by 20 feet, in that kind of situation it would feel like a movie moment where the car almost brushed his hair or helmet as it went over his head. I bet he sees it in his dreams for the next week or two.

Glad he came out without a scratch, hope the driver of the car is alright.

Thanks DG. The news report says it was "an elderly woman", pronounced dead at the scene. No other details but appears she may have had a heart attack or stroke. Frightening.
