  • What filter or breather am i missing

I've looked and looked and can't find exactly what this is. I am missing a breather or a filter, and I'm sure its important if someone could tell me what this thing is called so I can get a replacement that would be awesome. I know a simple thing but thanks in advance.

Whatever it is, it certainly is not a stock component!

Give us a picture from the back side of that thing. What is hooked up to it?

That is part of an aftermarket crankcase breather, the filter part is missing. The proper arrangement is a hose from the engine running up to the airbox. There is a port there between carbs 2 and 3 on the front of the airbox. It requires a special molded hose to fit properly. Either get the right hose or go buy another one of those breathers at auto parts store.

Yup, now seeing the back you can see it is connected to the crank case breather.

              Hey Rusty,

IT comes from MikesXS.net , you now already know what it's for. I had the same one on mine, and the same thing happened, the filter portion fell off due to my right heel hitting it where I had it mounted!

              Part #15-0680

Chrome Breather Filter with Die cast Mount Bracket and Filter Cap.

So...I got a different little filter from the auto store....took a short piece of pipe, mounted it into the crankcase vent tube, stuck it thru the hole in the center of the mounting bracket, and then attached the new filter onto that piece of pipe, so I was able to keep and use the bracket...I repositioned mine a bit deeper in the frame than where I had it before, my heel doesn't hit it anymore.
