  • Mock Dyno?

So, I get tired of having to ride the bike around for a few miles to check on my carb tune. I was wondering if it would be possible to elevate the rear wheel, and tie down the rest of the bike to simulate riding? I understand the risks involved with this, and would entertain any thoughts or ideas anyone has pertaining to this. Does there have to be some type of resistance on the rear tire? I saw a site of somebody homebuilding a dyno. I have no interest in that.

Strap that mother down tight if you try it. I have visions of you shooting through the garage wall...

Some resistance is needed. Try a small tire turning an old box fan, and use it to cool the engine as it runs. JAT....

A small metal drum 3/4 full of sand would work good.

Resistance/load is needed. Honestly, anything you come up with will probably be more work than taking the bike out for a test spin. There is no shortcut.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind on that. Actual running conditions will be the best indicator of the performance you have. Seat of the pants, plug color, performance, be it seat of the pants or Dyno will all lead one to clues.
As in any good detective show the clues will find the answer. Read what you have showing and "Know" what you need. The rest is simple deductive reasoning.
It is not like this bike is a NASA experiment. People have gone before you and will venture after you. Decisions made and posted will affect many more in years to come.
