  • Part number?

Was hoping that someone could tell me the part number for a clutch cable to suit a 791100 SF? I was sent in an earlier post a site where you can get all the part numbers but can't for the life of me find it.
    Thanks in advance.

The one you mention there trbig is 05-0058 for an 1100S..... Is that the same as an 1100SF?
Dont mean to be pedantic here, its just a hassle getting the wrong one sent to the other side of the world. You know, the postage can often be as much as the cable making returns hardly worthwhile.

          OEM Part Number

You can go to this site to see the Yamaha part number for your specific model. They are a vintage Yamaha dealer. I have used them many times - for parts purchase and reference. Click on the OEM tab and Yamaha and this will allow you to enter your bike's info.

          http://www.nwvcp.com.

Bike Bandit (http://www.bikebandit.com) also shows the parts schematics, but their part number is shown, not the Yamaha part number.

Well that surprises me!. Considering the different handlebars between various models.
Yes it is an extra one I am ordering. Been looking at the 800 mile thread thats on at the moment. Its nice to have a few simple spares ready to go.

I couldn't resist the urge to check on that. It's true. They're all the same.

According to Partzilla, these bikes all use the same clutch cable.
This Yamaha 3H3-26335-00-00 CABLE,CLUTCH is used on these models and components:

                    1978 XS1100E HANDLE-WIRE
                    1979 XS1100F HANDLE - WIRE
                    1979 XS1100SF HANDLE-WIRE
                    1980 XS1100G HANDLEBAR CABLE
                    1980 XS1100LG HANDLEBAR - CABLE
                    1980 XS1100SG HANDLEBAR-CABLE
                    1981 XS1100H HANDLEBAR - CABLE
                    1981 XS1100H HANDLEBAR CABLE
                    1981 XS1100LH HANDLEBAR CABLE
                    1981 XS1100LH HANDLEBAR-CABLE
                    1981 XS1100SH HANDLEBAR - CABLE
Even with the XS650, only the first three digits are different. Maybe they swap too? Based on what Tod says, this should be true, as the XJ1100J clutch cable only differs in the first three digits.

What I'm curious about is the throttle cable. The XJ's, where it comes off the handle and bends is a plastic piece of junk compared to the XS's metal bend. I've got a couple spares, but the XJ throttle cable is unobtainium and expensive if you do find them. I found a bike shop that's been around a long long time and they had two stored in the back, one of them already broken at that plastic piece I described. Still workable, so he knocked off a few bucks and I picked them both up.

I'm just wondering why the XS cable can't be used. I guess if you just swapped the whole throttle assembly, you could for sure, but never checked it out close enough to see what the difference was.

As for the 650 cable, if it has the same clutch arm setup as the 1100, then it may possibly work. When I had to have a cable made when I was in Vegas, that end that goes to the clutch arm was needed and re-used. The end with the little barrel that goes into the clutch handle seems to be fairly universal.
