    Thanks

Dont have any real issues right now with the exception of intermittent turn signals. If you have any suggestions in that regard I would appreciate them. I dont know where the headlight came from, It was on the bike when I got it.

You dont need turn signals to ride man! That is what hand signals are for!

Intermittent usually means a grounding problem.

If its TX Inspection you worry about, apply for Antique plates (any bike over 30 years old) and inspection is exempt and not needed.

Plus, plates are like $60 for 5 years...

Don't know about TX but in states up here those plates are restricted to only being used during certain months of the year and are subject to roadside towing if caught on the road in the wrong months.

I know in Michigan, Historical plates are supposed to be used only to & from events, etc. I'd never want to test the limits on that, I use my bike for everything

Getting back to the picture at hand,,,,That's not a 78/79 motor and trans. Try an 80/81. This engine is a kick start deleat model. Unless it was removed from the 78/79. But then the question, Why. Nothing wrong with the 80/81. But compared to the 79, The 80/81 was a little tamer.

Yet another reason not to live in those states but only visit

TX says its fine to ride for "events", which can be almost anything, and for testing roadworthiness, which also may be anything, but commuting is not really supposed to be covered. Since I only ride weekends and rallies and such, I am always good.

On the intermittent turn signals, Check the solider connections at the handle bar switch. I've seen those cause that problem along with the grounds being cleaned and checked it should give you a good starting place.

                      Punisher

Dont really know where all the stuff came from, I am not a real organized type guy. BA80 described it better than I could. Stuff that I begged, borrowed, made or bought. The headlight I got from a friend dont know the particulars. The exhaust is in fact a Kerker. I dont know what happened to the badge, who cares. Runs good, one of a kind, old school, stoplight racer. Hows that for a description.

Like the 'bump-stop' seat that has an actual decent pillion profile.
