What's the farthest you've traveled for an XS11?

Just kind of curious, as I find myself searching out of state for XS's, even though I probs won't buy another one again. Either a modern bike, or something of the 80's that is equivalent to the XS's power (GS1100ES).

The 82 and 83 gs1100e has a lot more than the xs11100. Those bikes are evil.

I went to Wahoo, NE for mine. From Fayetteville, GA that was over 2,100 miles round trip.

after seeing a picture of my xs1100 special on craigslist I really wanted to get it and prepared my self for the long and arduous journey. I drove an astounding 8.5 miles, ONE WAY, to make the deal
I really lucked out on this bike, it was practically in my backyard. and it is much nicer than I expected. it's showroom, and I really love this thing. i'm hooked on xs1100's. for the money, it's probably the best bike I've owned for the kind of riding I do. it does everything well.

Miss read it. Thought it said on an xs. I live in Maryland and flew to Tennessee, bought one and rode it back. Bought another in Georgia but put it in the back of a truck to get it home.

No telling on assorted parts/motors.. Wouldn't trade a parts bike for a RUNNING modern bike.

About 400 miles. Flew down to LA, rode back on an XS1100 from planedick. My MNS was about 130 miles, got a ride up, rode it home. My '79 was for sale in Utah, but the PO brought it out to SoCal, and I put it on a trailer to get it home. I guess that one was about 400 miles as well.

I'm going to cheat here. I was in San Diego, Ca. when I got my orders to Japan. I found my 81 XS11 SH there in '83...they were actually built in or near the USA and then shipped back there for the Navy Exchange system. SO...I travelled about 5697 miles to get there, with a little layover in Hawaii! I then brought it back in my household goods shipping all the way to Portsmouth, Va! I had taken my little Tx500A with me and I had planned on getting a bigger bike when I got to Japan...was looking at Harleys...yep, they had them there also....but for ~$600 more than the price of a Harley I could have gotten a Jeep CJ-7! SO...I didn't get the Harley thank god!

I went 25 miles fro two XS's at the same time (80lg & 78e) neither one ran. Traded my XJ750 for them plus he gave me $200. More than made up for the loooong distance I had to travel.

Dang, you all get an itch, don't ya. I got two within 30 miles of home and went all the way 100 miles one way for the third one. And I thought I was going road warrior for that one.

Not sure if any of you know this yet, but I was a member on this forum well before I ever bought an 11. I asked about carb issues on my 750, not knowing about the 750 site. Anywho, I always had it in my head about the 11's. I eventually bought a few 850's, and still wanted more. Saw a sweet cafe' mod of an 850, and noticed the humongous tank he had on it and saw that it was an XS11 tank. After I had my favorite and completely restored mint 750 stolen out of my driveway, I started looking for an 11. Started my Craigslist searches, and found four I really liked. One was a '78 Full bagger in Akron Ohio, a '79F with a nice seat and aftermarket pipes in St. Charles, MI, and the third was an '80 SG in Dexter, MI. I narrowed it down to the two standards, and the full bagger was sold. I contacted the PO of my bike and explained my interest and scheduled a day to come-up.

Scott explained that his uncle was killed in a bike accident and lost his motivation to ride. I was surprised by the growl of the Mac exhaust upon start-up. He had a set of Jardine spags in his garage that he explained he disliked over the Mac's. Scott gave me four boxes of parts, and I loaded them up and rode my bike straight to a bike shop where I bought oil, plugs, and some Euro bars. Been having fun with her ever since.

Would I ever buy another XS11? Probably. But, not just any 11. It would ideally be an E, with the original paint. Oddly enough, the Carmine Red that I.love on my 750E was not used on the XS11 till '80? Where-as they used the Macho Maroon instead with the same gold striping.

Ideally, I'd like to grab a GS1100ES, or an '85 V65 Sabre or CB1100. I totally respect those whom are diehard XS11 guys only, but, I love choices when I ride, and oddly enough, my gf enjoys riding on my XS11 more than my.sport bikes or any bike.

My Dad and I bought our bikes together. He drove 100 miles to my place to pick me up then we drove 30 miles more to look at his bike, a beautiful 79F with 15k miles, bought that on the spot and asked the guy to hang on it till he returned with tags the coming weekend. Then drove another 30 miles to my bike and bought that also. Returned back to my place 60 miles away, then his drive home was 100 miles. Round trip was 320the miles for 2 running bikes, we returned the next weekend with tags and drove rhem home.

I drove 300 miles round trip for my 79SF with no title. Luckilly I happened to be staying nearby for the weekend and just brought the trailer with me...

back in 2008 i bought a 1981 XS1100 special that was a Streetfighter...I had the winning bid on ebay...I drove to Lambertville MI from NJ.. and rented a uhaul trailer to bring the bike home...all told 1200 miles.
