  • Re:Backrest/luggage rake

Could any of you tell or give me advice on where I can find a backrest/luggage rake or I would settle for a luggage rake that will fit a 78E standard, how much do they cost? Thanks

    Parts Recycler.

I am in the San Diego area and got mine by a request put out over the salvage hot line {internet}. I got the luggage rack from a Georgia wrecking yard for $60-I added a back rest I found at a Thrift store {$4}. I also managed to get a new set of 3 point case savers from a Tennessee shop for $70 . You have to remember that you are buying things sight unseen-so beware. All of the Yamaha parts I have gotten locally from the recyclers are half of what they go {or went}for at retail.

Maybe you can find one like I did. Drove past my neighbors, there sitting on the front yard was a trunk attached to a crappy rack. Taped to the trunk was a piece of paper with the word FREE. Cost me $4.00 for a new lock and key.

I have a luggage rack and backrest off a 78 standard that I will sell cheap. It is a little scruffy but will clean up ok I think. E-mail or pm for more details.

Did you get a reply from this? If so, did he take it? If not, email me at ronbeatty@operamail.com about it. Would it fit an '80 Special?

I have two parts, a back rest and a rear mount luggage compartment. Not sure that I will wind up keeping both, but if decide to get rid of one, I will make sure I let everyone know here before I post it on eBay.

                    Thanks

I would really be interested in the luggage mount. I could actually ride up and pick it up from you. I am about 40 miles north of Atlanta. Not sure how far Columbia is, but we ride some good distances out goofing around sometimes.

I will definately keep you in mind then. I probably will be getting rid of that and keeping the sissy. If you want, send me a PM so I can remember, if you don't mind.
