Welcome aboard the crazy train of XS11 Madness.

While your taking your time to properly prepare the big beast for miles of smiles, take some time to prepare yourself as well by taking the MSF safety course. It will pay lots of dividends by your not ending up a statistic!!
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

        Welcome aboard the XS Express

You will not be disappointed with the vast knowledge from this forum. I had vacationed down in Savannah several times in the last 6 years and stayed in Tybee Island which was great.

I took the MSF safety course last year and wish it was mandatory for all new riders. You will learn things that will save your life.

        Good luck on your project.

A few years ago I stumbled upon this site. Trust me you are in the best place you can be as an XS Owner. There is more knowledge here than you will ever appreciate properly. So do the thing you do but by all means do not be shy to ask questions. We all were newbies at one time.

            Thanks guys

I am stoked to have my first bike, been rising for years just never my own. Lol. This project I know is probably way over my head but I'm glad I'm here where I know a lot of you have been there before.

                Hi Matt and welcome,
what kinda 1980 XS11 you got?
                4 options
Standard (XS11G, big tank, square gauges)
Special (XS11SG, small tank, round gauges)
Midnight Special (XS11LG, same as SG but blacked out with goldish wheels & chrome)
Frankenbike (XS11 parts swap like LEGO, most frankenbikes are collision rebuilds using whatever used parts were available)
                Fred Hill, S'toon
XS11SG with Spirit of America sidecar

It's a standard, was a basket case and now I'm finding that someone must have "lost" a basket somewhere, lol. Still figuring it out. Have a factory yamaha service manual that I have been studying..... Still trying to figure out the posting of pics though
