  • No more fun this summer.

I had been feeling fatigued for about 6 weeks, went through a battery of tests, the last one being an Angiogram. They wouldn't even let me go home to get some things,"Nope, you are not leaving this hospital". By noon the next day I had 4 new pipes feeding the left side of my heart. My left decending was 95% blocked at the entrance to the heart. Doc said any kind of attack, stroke, etc would have been fatal. So, if I want to have any more summers, I have to take it easy this one. No lifting over 10 lbs, no swimming, Jacuzzi, MOTORCYCLE RIDING. This was genetic. My Pop had an attack at age 48. It looks like a summer of perpetual puttering in the garage.

Been there and done that very thing. Still have to do another one. It is no fun, but i am sure you don't want to experience what a bike would feel like for a while. Give it some time, and walk, breath, and heal. You will enjoy things more after healing.

Hey you can always have another fun summer with a bike, but you need to take care of business now. Sounds like they caught you in time. BIG changes in lifestyle and nutrition coming up???

Wow, glad they found it before something bad happened.

A guy I work with had the same kind of thing happen last year. He slipped on the ice at work and had to go to the hospital. While doing his check up something wasnt right and after doing some tests they found a 90% blockage. He had no clue there was an issue until then.

This is a good reminder for EVERYONE to get regular checkups.

They don't want the incision to get immersed in any body of water that could harbor microorganisms. Hell, I have to use 6 washcloths for each shower, one for the left arm, one for the right, etc....They don't want my body parts infecting other body parts.

I had similar symptoms three years ago and thought it was a nasty flu that did not conform to the usual set of flu symptoms. I asked the Doc today if it could have been a small blood clot that lodged in the plaque-narrowed artery and had taken 3 weeks for my body to dissipate it. She said "yes". That illness mystified me at the time, but I think it is a little more in focus. It is quite possible I have been a walking heart attack for 3 years!

take your time and heal, glad your heart disease was caught before the big one.

i had a heart attack at 38(hereditary) and i'm now 55 and doc say's at last check up,all seemed good.(knock on wood). I only had to have a angioplasty instead of by-pass,but was in the hospital for 7 days. Was a major wake-up call for me.Good luck.

BTDT......a tripple in 97'. Take your time to heal. When released to regimented excercise(rehab), continue it in some sort of fashion, even just walking. 10-12yrs., those bypasses 'dissapear'(x-rays will show identifying rings left for locations) as heart does its own bypasses as needed, ONLY if some sort of exercise, even if minimal is continued(amazing how body has ability to adjust/correct itself).
