  • Taxi/Mini-cab drivers

Just got my XS11 taxed and tested on Wednesday. Spent about 7 months and over £1000 on fresh parts only to have an idiot in a taxi reverse into it causing £300 worth of damage. Bent rear mudguard, bent headlight rim, dented petrol tank, broken clutch lever, dented speedo cover, broken handle bar-end and big scrapes in my crank-end casing. Will somebody please legalise murder for these situations.

Thanx alot T.C. he'll be dead real soon if he doesn't pay up for damages. Been readin alot about 17th century torture (guido fawkes, etc) this is Northern Ireland sometimes living in a violent culture has it's benefits.

I am really sorry to hear about what happened to your bike. I take great pride in mine, as do almost all of the members. The worst part is that these bikes are obsolete, and parts are very hard to find. I have a headlight assembly from a 79 Special, the round one.I know the rim is in nice condition. If you have need of it, send an email to rovjer@tds.net , and I will send it to you. I would expect to be reimbursed for the postage. I can not help you with other parts, I have a fuel tank from an 81 Mid Special, but it has several dents in it, and if I can get them out, I will keep that for a spare, cause my 79 tank is quite rusty inside, and may start to leak any day now. I know you are upset about the accident, but you, of all people, should understand that violence only begets more violence. Sometimes forgiveness is the true answer. Hope you get everything back to normal, Rover

Thanks for the advice, sympathy and offer of the headlight rim Rover. I have calmed down alot mostly due the fact that tha bike is still driveable and I have just returned from a 120 mile trip through the mountains of Donegal (very nice). About the headlight rim, thanks again for the offer but my XS has a square headlight and of course your rim won't fit but thanks once again. Should be able to get all the parts of English breakers will probably post again when she is all fixed. Good Luck!
