i had the chance last weekend to go home to birmingham, al and do a little riding with a friend. it was sunny and in the low 80's fri. (a nice change to the 50's here in indy) he has a 95 honda magna 750. i got a chance later to ride it and was very impressed with the amount of power it makes. we rode close to 125 miles in a circle north of town. mostly we took 2 lanes through the country. i asked him if there was a place we could stretch them out. being a former county sherriff he knew just the spot. we were waiting in a turn lane and he told me he was going to wind it up. when the light turned he was gone. i was to easy shifting into 2nd and missed the gear. (overly cautious after the tranny rebuild i guess) by time i got it going he was about 50 yards ahead. i hunkered down and wound it up. i reeled him in and was fixing to hit 5th and go for the pass when we ran out of safe road. at the next stop he said he had his magna wound out at 114 (had had a good sized windshield on and said that slowed it down.) over the next few miles my xj was making a horrible noise coming from the front of the header. we decided to detour to his house to check it out. about halfway there i heard the headers nuts drop off and hit the ground. (when i installed the new mac i was a fraid of overtightening and breaking a stud but didn't get them tight enough afterall.) at his house i saw i had lost both bolts off the #3 header. a quick trip to the hardware store for a few bolts and washers solved the problem. .60 cents for nuts and 5 buck for the silly locktight. we finished our ride and had a great time. maybe next time we will get to see what the xj can really do. saturday was even nicer with temps in the mid 80's. the wife and i rode around and saw the sights downtown in birmingham and in my hometown about 10 miles north. this was the first time i have been able to take my bike on vacation and it was great. anyway thats my cheeky story about the weekend i hopes ya'lls went as well.

i have been having trouble with getting images to come through on some of my prevous posts. apparently tripod is a little stingy with their linkage. upon good advice i opened a imagestation account. hopefully things will work better.
if it does, below is a picture i took sat at vulcon park atop red mountian over looking birmingman, al. the xj was huffin and puffin by time it got us to the top.

Sorry Daryl,
Picture didn't show up, I'm posting a test picture of our small group at XSEast2002 in Alexandria Bay NY.
I went to Image Station, album, entered album, scrolled to picture, then viewed ORIGINAL PICTURE, the copied link, then pasted it in the IMG link, but had to remove the ".orig.jpg" suffix they had added to the picture link, we'll see if it works!?
T.C.
Well, I see that didn't work, used to, wonder if they've also changed their service to not allowing links into the albums!?!?Last edited by TopCatGr58; 03-25-2004, 09:38 PM.T. C. Gresham
