Thanks for letting us northern folks know. We have friends in Charolette, sorry about the spelling, they have let us know about the weather all winter. They ride almost all winter, and send us pic's of them on there bike's.What a kick in the ba**'s.They want us to move down there,so they keep on harassing us on facebook, might have to delete them as friends.

Last year today it was mid 70s, today it got up to 18...

My last day riding was Dec 6th on a surprisingly warm day for up here. I sure miss the beast. The snowmobile fills some void but not quite the same.
I figure the end of March marks the beginning of riding season here. Just have to enjoy each day for what it is, we don't get'em back.

Ben, it would have been a nice picture if centered on the horse instead of the Honda. Thanks for the weather report we may get up to 40 tomorrow

You know we in the North should be more compasionate for the Southerners. With the climate changing giving them the warmer days in winter for ridding it could be that the 30 degree change could eventually follow thew into summer.

Every time I hear how nice their temps are for ridding right now I just think about that possible 30 degree difference and how happy I'll be when its 90 here in Virginia.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Just a question from a guy (who has avoided cold climates as much as possible) for those of you snowbound up north...do people ride snowmobiles in the streets after a heavy snow? I doubt many are street legal, as no one would want to put a plate and brakelight on one, but do folks roam around the neighborhood when it comes down heavy?

short answer is yes they do...I've lived many yrs in the northeast...during and after heavy snows Ialways saw others riding their snowmobiles thru the neighborhood...cops are not keen to follw as snowmobiles are much more able than a cop car...

As far as the cops I have seen the snow and ice here get ahead of the police in cities. When I was in Richmond in the 90's the police had to take the public works trucks and put chains on to be able to get around because the snow packed hard and turned to ice. The Ice pot holes being more than 8 inches deep would frame out many autos.

By the way we got 8 more inches of snow today.
