Farther north, if you're coming that way, is old 27. Back in the 50's it was the only way to go from Michigan/Ohio all the way down to Florida. It's been bypassed with big 4 lanes per side highways like 71 and 75 in northern Kentucky so it's fairly subdued when it comes to traffic.
If you get the chance, pick up 27 southbound in Highland Heights Kentucky (10 minutes south of Cincinnati Ohio). Here it's just your normal small highway, about 35mph for about 20 minutes. Then as you get past Alexandria and head out into the "county" (Campbell county) it gets rural. It jumps up to 45 and goes down to two mostly two lanes. There are some really scenic parts all along here, but the really pretty spots are found between Butler and Falmouth, and then later between Falmouth and Cynthiana. Flamouth is a great little town, but if you blink twice you'll miss it. The stretch between Falmouth and Cynthiana is absolutely georgeous on a bike... it's all gently rolling hills and long sweeping turns. Cynthiana is also a neat old town, lots of small shops and resturaunts. From Cynthiana to Lexington is a fairly short jaunt, but you'll need to look at a map or two.
Here's a couple of maps:
Overview from Cincinnati to Lexington, the red star marks Falmouth. You can see it parallels I-75.

Zoom out once and you can see Cincinnati in relation to Falmouth.
Zoom out again and you can see Lexington.
Have fun in my home commonwealth (Kentucky is not a state).81' XS1100LH "Lady Luck"

Thanks, that looks like a nice road and just what I am looking for. I've spent most of the last 23 years pounding the interstates in the US and the 4 lanes in Canada so when I am on my time, I like to slow down a bit and enjoy the view. Will all depend on when we get to Cincinnati. Not leaving here untill early afternoon due to work commitments. If it's still lite when we get there, that will be the road of choice.Brian
