  • Start/End of a project

I just wanted to offer this up to any and everyone here before throwing this stuff on Ebay.
A few months ago I bought an SG from one of our members in New Mexico. After minor surgery on my knee, pending treatment/surgery in my guts, I managed to get the motor pulled and started tearing it down. This bike is in pieces but does have a clear title. I got it running before tearing it down to make sure I wasn't going to waste my time. It ran. Not great, had a few leaks, but ran and didn't smoke. In this bunch of parts, is two complete heads, a set of carbs for the 78/79 models as well as the 80/81. Will entertain offers but the new owner will have to bring a trailer. I will put the final drive back on to make it a rolling chassis. I just don't have the time with the doctors appointment and my schedule with my duty assignment in the Army. The parts are bagged and tagged. PM me with any offers. I will start to list all the parts on Ebay the first week in March. This gives everyone some time. I can upload some pics but I'm pretty sure everyone here knows what a stripped down bike with extra parts looks like. Offers will be for the lot. Everything.

    Hi Czekus,
seller's remorse can make you miserable.
Are you sure you want to do this?
Is there a way you could mothball the project until you can get at it again?

      I hope

your health improves, good luck man. You know, sometimes it's good to have a project waiting, it gives you something to shoot for when your on the mend.Your too far from me or i'd make you an offer and hold it with a buy back option for you after things calm down in your life. Good luck again.

Firstly, a big Thank You for Service to Our Country.

Secondly, Focus on your health without it you don't have much.

Thirdly, Know that you will get better and this Community is rootin' for ya.

Fourth, If We can help persuade you to hang on to your SG, sometime down the road a few clicks you'll be thankin' Us

I know there's a few good XScessives in your neck o' the woods that could lend ya a hand on your reassembly for some suds.

You may even want to start a build thread and, just like the squirrel outside my window takes one nut at a time up the tree over the neighbors roof and God only knows what she's doin' with them, take small tasks one at a time and soon you'll be over half way done cruisin' to the finish and the first ride on what you, the mechanic, put together with your own hands.

First, take care of your health, and my prayers for you to heal quickly.

Not sure if your getting redeployed to a new location, but the healing part I certainly understand. After my accident in 2010 I thought sure I was done riding. I parted out my wrecked bike, and put the ad on craigslist to sell off Banshee. Well, its 2013 and I still ride Banshee whenever I can. As I got better and more able, I got back on and rode a few miles, and that was the end of it, no selling the bike anymore. Took several months for me to get to that point though.

If your selling the project because you lost interest, and the health and work stuff are just the added push to sell it, then so be it, sell it off and move on. If your strictly selling because it will sit for a while before you can get back to it, that another story.

If your still set on selling it, well, it does suck your more than halfway across the country from me.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I guess with all the time I have to devote to my soldiers as well as taking care of my ailments, The time I need to devote to the old bike will be far coming. I hate seeing it torn apart in pieces but I know, without a doubt, she'll be rollin again. I had it running and didn't sound too bad, XSept for the leaks and a few minor issues with carbs/elect.This would make a terrific project for someone who wants to learn and has the time to devote.
Again,,,,Thank you all for the well wishes. I'll do my best to get "Back in the Fight".

I'm with Fred. You just don't know what will happen next. Something in a week, month year may change everything in your life. If you have the room to store it for the time being, do it.
