Interesting map, living in one of the higher risk area's almost everyone I know has hit deer at one time or another, some even 2 in one night. I've been lucky so far haven't hit any. I've know a couple people who hit them on bikes, one losing a leg,the other his life.
I have a habit of slowing down even to a stop as soon as I see one because you never know what way they will go. They will even run into the side of vehicles. Never assume they are going to stay on the side of the road as you blow by.

I have hit one on a bike and one in a truck and one hit me in a car. I say it hit me because it ran its horns threw the rear quarter pannel and broke off about 2 inches of them. The one on the bike I was lucky over the handle bars and slid out threw a wet field of hay. Other than using tweezers to pull hay straws out of one arm the brusies on my thighs and replacing the headlight and handlebars on bike I feel I was lucky.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

7 I have collided with seven. The south side Atlanta suburbs are thick with them. Fortunately, this has not happened to me on a motorcycle. I remain cautious of them.
