    Hi all:

I'd like to place an American Flag patch on my riding vest.
I have read it is supposed to be placed on the shoulder. Is it okay on the front of the vest? If I put it up high it would be the front of the shoulder.

    Thanks in advance
    Rick

In Martial Arts we always had the flag on the left side over the breast pocket region of our uniforms.

In all my years of military service and BSA, and other orginizations, I have never heard of a problem wearing the flag on your chest instead of a shouler or sleeve.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

If you place the flag on the front of your vest then make sure you get a patch where the star field is in the upper left corner when looking at the patch. Most patches should already be in this orientation.

          Hi Rick,
a vest don't have shoulders so the flag has to go elsewhere.
On the front where military decoration ribbons would go would be OK.
Or a big flag right across the back?

One of my leather coats has a american flag on the back,no one has ever said anything about it ,and I've ridden with American Leigon riders.I believe if you have a flag on your front chest,it is supposed to go over your heart on the left side, not positive though.Wear it with pride.

If you want to learn about flag eteqiuette, google CAPR 900-2

As an officer in the CAP I have been involved with all this with our Cadet Color Guard team which is preparing for state competition as well as marching in a few Mardi Gras parades and performing other color guard duties around our area.
