I have seen it done and that ain't the way!! The company I saw put a long, long cable around the base hooked to a bulldozer. 3 or 4 panels were broken out, everyone got out of the way and the dozer pulled it down. Now let me look at this nut.

While it is entertaining and I am certain there was some point in my life, prior to age of wisdom over coming testosterone, I might have tried it. I can honestly say that looks like it was directly preceded by three words...."Hold my beer"! Or perhaps...."hold my sign".

We have done this several times. We don't however stand there with a hammer and wait for the silo to fall on us. We also did not do any that were close to buildings or other signs of civilization. The reason for that is that we used high powered rifles of large caliber from a distance. Several types of entertainment at once.

For several years this area was dotted with lone standing silos left over from failed or abandoned farm sites and people wanted them out of the way. Silo demolition experts were expensive, we charged nothing if we could do it safely. Never had an accident.

I have one of those abandoned silos standing at my place, however it is a fully cast concrete silo, not one of the stave type so there is no real good way to drop it. :-(

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

Yup, 12 gauge slugs are a better choice for that rather than the dolt standing there with a hammer. It is actually pretty fun!

Nate, noticed your moving to Indy, is that Indiana or Indianapolis? Either way you will be much closer to the SWOXS district of the world.
