  • End of an Era

After 15 years, and many happy miles, my SG has been sold. I'm a little sad to see it go but the XJR has proven itself to be a much worthy successor. It's going north to Christchurch to a guy who's had an RH 1.1 in the past, so he knows what he's bought. Ive suggested he join this site so i'm going to stick around for a while to see if he does.

Sad to see you let her go Brian, but I hear those XJRs are wayyy SEXY bikes. So I can see how it could happen. You do not need to go away though.

Glad to hear you like your new ride Brian. Many thanks goes to you for helpin' with arranging for me to meet your three friends who were touring the western part of our country this late summer. Meeting them in Green River, Utah on there ride down from Yellowstone Park area and riding with them to Moab, Utah was great! Mark would definitely be the life of the party to say the least.....sure left a lasting impression of someone who hasn't a care in the world and just loves riding, no matter where it is, and no matter if he gets left behind a few hours or not(understand that is notoriously fitting to his riding style). Unlike New Zealand, there's alot of area to get 'misplaced' here, but seemed 'no worries mate' to him, as long as he shows up with the adult beverage, which he did. Ride safe, and keep it up on two wheels Brian!

Swapped bikes with a friend for a short blast around my house.
I got to ride his XJR1200, he took my XS11 standard.
XJR is a totally different beast, it didnt loose any of the power, but rather gained some, along with some frame, suspension and wider tires. And brakes. Lots and lots of brakes. It was more civilized than I expected, so I came back pleasantly surprised.
            He just looked scared.
If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

Excellent bikes Strom, get one if you can.

Brant. Dave and Jim talk about meeting you often, Cox'y just talks. He can get lost going to the toilet, so im not suprised he got lost a time or two in 8000 miles.

Terry. I cant understand the logic of not being able to buy XJR's in the States, I think theyre streets ahead of the FJR for those who want the naked look.

Phil. I'm not going anywhere (at least in the short term) I enjoy this site, and the many different things to learn here.

Don. The decision to sell wasnt an easy one. The current economic environment we all live in now forced me to evaulate some priorities, and the expense of keeping two bikes registered (rediciously expensive here) just coudnt be justified anymore. Seems everythings going up except wages. I'll get another one day, when things improve. In the meantime I'll be thoroughly enjoying the XJR experience.
