  • A lot of miles?

My company issued me a new Volvo 18 wheeler on April 15th. Today the odometer turned over the 100,000 mile mark.
No wonder I don't feel like going anywhere on my day off.
A lot of miles in just over 7 months.

Only 14,286 miles per month. You used to put that kind of mileage on your XS, right?

I go WAY more miles than that! I use wings!

Same result. I don't want to go anywhere when I get home.

My truck has PeopleNet, same thing as Qualcom.
Once out of CA I speed up to my governed max, 68 MPH.
On north route I can make it as far as Winnemucca, NV the first day. Rawlins or Sinclair, WY by Fri. Grand Is, NE on Sat morning. Swap trailers early Sun morning (leaves Sat free).
              Retrace my route.
In CA I can push 587 miles legally. In America I can go about 680 miles.
I have electronic logbook so there's no cheating.

I have 117,000 miles on my concrete mixer in five years. No big deal but a lot if you consider that I hardly ever leave the small city of about 100,000 people. You know as a long hauler what the cities are like. People need to have their drivers license reviewed much more often than they have to.

Pat that is alot of miles but it looks like you don't finger print anythingThat is what you wantThinking about a bit more..that is a lot of miles..when I drove I think 2800 was about the max I put on a week but I did a lot of finger print work. I am out of the industry now but still try and follow trucking,I found this article interesting.Turn overrate is high among the big Hunt,Werner and Pumpkin company's, the equipment always seems to be good so I am guessing mangement..I made 34cents a mile back in the 80's so I guess it is better now.

Two weeks ago I drove my 1,000,000th mile in a big rig.
It was 5 miles east of Winslow, AZ on I-40.
Managed to do it in less than 10 years.

Been spending what little spare time and money on bows and guns. Lately been reloading and making my own holsters.

Still ride the European occasionally. The LG just sits under the cover.

Took a 3 week vacation last Oct. Rode the couch and binge-watched TV.
Never found a buyer that wasn't on the east coast. Shipping killed the deals. I was selling both bikes and all parts. I have no time or gumption to keep them going. The E gets just enough attention to get the 6 miles to/from work once each week. Most times I have my kids take me to work. The bikes just sit.

While I can't compete with a trucker, my commute is 110 miles a day, 5 days a week. Weekends are usually another hundred miles or so; round trip to our grocery store is about 64 miles and there always seems to be other errands to run.

In summer, runs up to our lot in central Colorado are 400 miles round trip; last year I was there 8 weekends in a row (August and September) and several more during the rest of the summer.

Throw in some recreational riding and XS11 rallies (Da UP in 2015, Brockville, Canada in 2014) and I easily hit 50K+ miles in a "normal" year. Problem is that only 8 - 10K are on the bike, some years less. My regular gas station cashier knows me by name.

It is a*rare* day when I don't drive or ride someplace.
