  • Any members near Punxsutawney, PA??

I made a deal with a forum member who lives in Punxsutawney(Matt78)for a parts trade. I wanted his hard bags and he needed a headlight. After talking on the phone we agreed to ship the parts to each other. I sent my headlight(complete bucket, signals and headlight) the next day. Well that was in May and I still have not gotten my bags. I have called him many times and all I get is excuses on why he has not shipped them yet. I even paid for the shipping since they were a large package.

I need a member who lives near who is willing to go over there and either get my bags and ship them to me or get my headlight back. I can pay a little for your time and help and of course the cost of shipping parts to me.

PM me and I can send you his contact information.

          THOUGHT:
Maybe you can find a 'Runner' over Thanksgiving. Somebody in the Southeast heading North or somebody up North heading down here over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Do you know if the hard bags / frame are already disassembled from the frame (where somebody could easily put them in their trunk)?? -or- is it more complicated than that??

If it is just a "Load n' Go" situation then that might be doable for somebody that would be willing to do you a favor by driving thru Punxsutawney PA and stopping to get your bags.

If you can check to see if an easy - hassle free pickup is possible, then I'll check around to see if I can find somebody reliable to get them for you.

(Which I'd known earlier since I just drove by there twice only 30 miles away on PA66 going north and US219 going south. Did my annual 'Fall Leaf Peeper' ride up the entire Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive then up to gaze at Canada at Niagara Falls. Went close by Punx twice).

The "runner" is a good idea but so far I don't know anybody who might be going that way. I'm not even sure he has them boxed up yet. The first few calls he said they were but later he said they were not boxed. If any members are passing through there and heading south I would be willing to meet you somewhere.

Not many of us up here. Punxy is around 60-70 minutes away from me, and I used to go through there 10 times a year, but not lately.

mlew, PM the address, if I get a chance I'll go by there and see what I see. No guarantees.

If it has been since May I would say you have a major problem on your hands. Matt78 has not even been on the forum for a couple of months. I figure if he was going to honor the deal he would have been able to by now.
I think we should incorporate a bum deal section, right along with the for sale etc sections to names such culprits. I been emailing back and forth with a couple of members over deals. It is one thing to walk away from a deal as opposed to screwing another member. It is an entirely different animal when one has to wait 6 months for another member to send a part.

^^^ Read my mind. If he had any intentions of truly getting those bags to you, it would have happened already. You were screwed, and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Personally, I have been on this forum for a few years now, and know who the regulars are, and who are not. I would not make any deals with anyone that did not have a reliable rep on this forum. And to be honest, it's probably not something you should be "putting out there" on the forum unless you are announcing the forum member to be a deadbeat member. Even still, that's a sticky situation, as the member may be friends of other members, etc., and it causes friction. Those guys on the Triples forum and GS forums are great to let you know who the snake oil salesman are.

I agree, this guy needs to be put on the #@$%** list. I would suggest calling him everyday. Will remember this guy. His reputation now precedes him. Too bad this happened. Your persistence in bugging him may pay off. He still has a chance to redeem himself, but will he do so?????

Yeah I should have done some homework first, and I probably an screwed but it never hurts to try other options. I did call every weekend for the first couple of months but I have kind of given up hope and only call every few weeks now, All I get is excuses.
