Back in ’82, my kids and I were living in Beeville, Texas. Great place to ride, it’s a heck of a long ride to anyplace. The nearest Honda shop was 65 miles in Victoria. One Saturday, my son, then 9, and I took a ride over for tune-up parts. My ’75 750K had a Hooker 4 into 1. We were buzz’s along when the Honda all of a sudden lost all power but picked right back up again. I put us on the side of the road to do the three point check. Fuel, spark and air. Nothing was amiss so on we went for about a mile and it happened again. Now I was concerned. We were about half way there. Should I go back or continue on? All the time my son was asking what was going on. I explained as best I could as not to alarm him. I decided to head on to Victoria. I could get help or make a phone call. We made it without further incident. In the Honda parking lot, I was doing a more though check of the 750 when my son asked me what would happen if someone was to put their foot over the muffler exhaust when the bike was running. Then I noticed a black 1¼ inch circle on the toe of his right boot. Just the same size as the end of the Hooker muffler.
