    You WERE lucky.

I hope you layed in a good stock of Arrogant Bastard before the storm Randy. It may be a while before you can get more.

Maybe FEMA will bring in some.

      We were lucky

We were lucky in northeastern Pa. The storm traveled much farther westward, than predicted, before turning north. We only saw maximum wind gusts on the order of 45-50 m.p.h. and little rain. Power was out for about 12 hours but I had the generator primed and ready. My heart goes out to those in the NYC area and New Jersey, who have suffered great loss!

Great to hear from you Randy...Long Island has had its share of hurricanes...I remember several as a kid growing up in Huntington...Also have heard from family members and all is well. My nephew who lives on Ocean Parkway got out to his mom's in SI...This region got smacked really hard but when times get tough New Yorkers and New Jerseyians pull together and rise above the occaision...I expect much the same here...still the task is daunting...the sheer enorrminty of it boggles the mind. Certainly alot of beachfront property is now worthless as its all underwater or damn near it...
Let there be no mistake about it...we have climate change...the polar ice caps are melting and the ocean is rising...and low laying coastal inhabitants are in jeopardy...This will surely happen again although people will blatantly ignore that...they really should think about pulling back while they still have time because theres no way to stop the onslaught from mother nature.

            Hey Randy,

Good to hear and see that you were on the Lucky Wind side of that storm!
We were essentially spared most of it's wrath, no loss of power here at home, no trees lost in my yard. Hope Earl and Darrell and such are OKAY!

                  Hi Guys,
I know it's been a while, but wanted to check in and see if you guys along the east coast survived Sandy ok? I was relieved to read your posts.

So, what's new with me? Business has improved the past year a bit. I sold my Maxim back in April and bought a new 2011 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS.
Kawasaki had reduced the price of the 11's by $2500, and had 3 year warranties. The Maxim brought $2150, so it was like getting to ride the 40,000miles I put on her for virtually free.

Hated to sell it, but wanted a new bike for long trips I'm planning. Made one in June on the new bike. Went from Tulsa to Springdale, Utah to see Zion Nat'l park and Bryce Canyon. Awesome trip. Rode out there with Bohn, Cody, and Miles. Bike performed flawlessly, and averaged 50 mpg.
                  Runs and handles beautifully, too.

I still have the '79F. It's still rockin' like brand new... and only has 3500 miles on the clock.

Glad to hear you're OK, TC & Randy. You guys have been in my thoughts.
                  Take care.

                          Greg and Ben,
Yeah... I'm still kickin' the tires.

Shiny sides' still up... (thank goodness...)

Haven't had a lot of time as of late to sit on the PC...

                          I'm either working or riding!

Gonna have to get with ya Greg and show ya the new bike...
seein' how it's only been 7 months since I bought it...

BTW, Greg... my phone number's still the same, too.

Gimmee a call sometime and we'll do some riding.
Anybody in the gang thinking about Talimena this year?
                          If so, I'm in.

Hope you got what you needed out of your Maxim, Ben. That was a sweet one.

                              Hey there Bob,

Glad to see you and hear that your business has picked up again, able to keep the taxman at bay!! And able to afford a new ride to boot! I don't ride enough to warrant the expense, and I haven't worn out my XS11 yet either, so I'm happy playing with it. Enjoy your newfound good fortune!

                                Thanks, TC!
Good to hear you weathered the storm ok, my friend!

As for my taxes... as of last year I actually made it back on top of them, didn't have to file extension, (saved more there,) and DIDN'T have to go to the bank for a loan either! So, I've managed to come a long way financially since we last spoke. Work has been pretty good, and, with the exception of the new bike, I've kept my nose to the old proverbial grindstone and have focused on paying down my debts while the work's held out. I've managed to reduce my debt in the last 4 years by 50% ($25,000!)
Stinking credit card debt, though... I actually sent more like $100,000... only got 25% credit... But, that's starting to get better, and hopefully will be paid off in the next 4 years. (WooHoo!)

Ahh, divorce... ya gotta love those exes...

Just found out my credit rating's also up, too. (Up 50 points more since last April when I bought the Connie!)

Hasn't been easy, but I'm finally starting to see some light at the end of the financial tunnel. Ohh, btw... I AM knocking on wood right now....lol

If you ever find yourself back in my part of the world, gimmee a shout. You're always welcome here, and would look forward to riding with ya again.
                                Take care.
