I used to have a Jack Daniels Bottle with my name on it in a gold band. Bottle was registered to me and all that fun. Dropped it one day...NO FUN at all. Now all the personal playing cards etc have no meaning without the crowning Belle Bottle that they came with. Come to think of it I wonder where those playing cards and wherewithall went. Might have to have a looks see If I can still find them.

      What, no mention of Scotch?

Beer is a "back" for scotch. If I could afford it my choice would be a shot of Glen Levitt with a back of an amber ale, say, New Castle. Anyone who lives near a Trader Jose should check out their booze selection. Their generic "Blended Scotch" for 10 bucks is a super deal. Single malts are grossly over rated. My favorite "adult beverage" would have to be: a shot of a blended Scotch, say "Famous Grouse" with a Newcastle back; although truth to say, after the first round neither the exact variety or brand of either scotch or "back" are really important! Cheers!

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
      I've been riding since 1959.

IMHO, its not just the single malts that are over rated- Scotch itself is way over rated.

If your goign to hit the hard stuff, then my taste go to Ouzo or Sambuca.

Did you get a dose of hydrocloric acid as a kid? Must have affected your taste buds, bud.
Ouzo is the most vile stuff invented by man, with the possible exception of Retsina.

I agree with you about Scotch, but only because the Scottish distillers don't let the GOOD stuff out of Scotland.

            Cheers, CZ

I quite like both Ouzo and "BUCA" rules with the whole pass the bottle around the campfire till it's dead and start another one goes. Scotch on the other hand has only passed my lips twice. Once to taste and the second time to be sure I hated it as much as I do.
Now what is bugging me is that we can not buy a beer here that has over 7.5% alcohol. No way no how and the liquor store owners are not allowed it to be sold as it is so government regulated. I mean geeze what a time saver to drink only one beer and have to go to bed . I can happily drink my low alcohol content Rainiers all night long and there is no hangover to deal with and I am fine to work the next day....Try that with a six pack of high alcohol content beer in you one night, and see how work goes.

I agree with Zap except that I wonder if it was maybe dropped on your head instead of the acid as a child? lol. I'm thinking you'd probably like to sit and sip Jagermeister as well? *ack... just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

This isn't factual, but a buddy had me look at the label on Jager and explained it to me...

The circle around the stag and the cross stand for , "Oh Dear God!" Anyone actually unlucky enough to drink enough to get drunk on it may attest to my buddy's translation.

And, I'd say to try the St. Bernardus 1st instead of 30th and see if you still feel the same way! lol. EVERYTHING tastes great after 29 beers!

In the military, we were told to stay away from Ouzo since it would make us fail a urine test (Opiates). In reading, it's said that they haven't been allowed to add poppy pods for decades, but can't find exactly when that was.
