  • Cold weather...

Just wanted to let everyone that lives in a warm weather climate, I'm jealous! It's been at or below freezing every morning here in Idaho for a few days and I've continued to pack on the cold weather gear, but it looks like it's about time to think about winterizing the bike. I'm not looking forward to driving the car to work, it's a P.O.S. '99 Volvo S70, but the heater works. Oh well, I guess I'll have some time this Fall, Winter to do a little painting on the engine of the bike.

They said 60% chance of snow last night but we got missed. I rode in light flurries the other night, hoping for back in the low 50's(F) next week.
I'm going to remain in denial until they plow.

This might sound a little weird, but in a way I envy you guys a little.
Down here on the coast of VA, it rarely gets to snow and if it does, it doesn't stay for long, so for me I ride just about every day. I kinda wich I had a few months that I HAD to put the bike up, then I would have a reason to perform much needed maintenance on it.

Any advice on cold weather gear. I just rode at 42 degrees on the interstate and my neck got cold. I ride at least 45 miles each way to work and i leave at 5 am so its pretty chilly.

Here is a good alternative to the belaclova... Gator mask. They are neoprene mask that doesn't cover your entire head just your face and neck area...Velcro in the back. I use one for snowboarding and riding.

that's not a bad 'buy it now' price if it's as nice as it looks in the photos.
Of course shipping, install costs and whether you really want to have the thing will make or break the deal.
Adding a sidecar (not necessarily that one) lets you ride in ice or snow covered roads without fear of falling.
The limit becomes how low a temperature your riding gear will let you survive in and whether your engine will still start.

It was 26° this morning, but a warm front is on it's way. Too bad I'll be in Tampa, FL for the next week. Wait, I'll be in Tampa for a week, sunny skies and the ocean! Too bad I'll be leaving the bike at home.

I feel like I'm the only one riding in NW Wisconsin now. It hasn't been real cold, some rain some flurries once I rode home in and temps in the 40's and low 50's. I haven't seen another bike out in over a week and a half. The coldest it's been was 18f one night. 40's and low 50's predicted for the next week, I'm gonna keep riding.
