Hey there Mo,
Wider bars will give you better turning leverage for sure. My 81SH buckhorns got old real quick. I found some from an early model Honda Gold Wing were nice and wide, better wrist angles, and still have the rise and pull back that I wanted to maintain with my Special. I've read that folks have said the CB750's are also similar, just remember you need to get 7/8" thick bars.

I use the CB750 bars from Mikes along with 2" Rox Pivot Risers to get them where I want them.

Hi Mo,
I was just wandering around Zdeno (Kitchener) on Saturday. They have lots of old bikes out the back. Take a look and see if any of them would work for you.
Parts Canada catalogue has lots to choose from too.
Good to hear you are using your sidecar.

didja swap out your Special's triple trees for the 'trees from a Standard when the sidecar was installed?
The Special fork legs + Standard 'trees mix takes an inch and a bit off the steering trail which in turn eases the steering.
For wider 'bars try MikesXS #10 tracker bars, they are 30" wide vs the normal 26".
If you want the bars up and back a bit, use risers.Fred Hill, S'toon

i just this morning changed the bars on my '80 special. took off the original stock buckhorns and installed a pair of bikemaster #11-0570 ltd's. same basic shape but they are a little wider and the ends are more parallel to the top tree. much, much more comfortable angle for my wrists and the extra width makes turning much easier. a really great $30 purchase and 30 minute job.
