      New Steed Ride Results

The new steed ('81 XS1100H) first got a good cleaning and checking out. Did a couple of upgrades, changed fluids, etc. Had a carb sync issue that will require carb removal. But they are real close. Will get to that sooner than later.

So we 5 (2 Harleys, a Honda, a BMW and the H) took off to Bryson City, NC this past weekend. Went to Maggie Valley and rode the Tail of the Dragon at Deals gap where we found hundreds of other bikes. Riders were all over the entire area.

Had good weather, no casualties, no problems. The new steed performed flaulessly and to my surprise, got 42.2 miles per gallon. I thought that it would be less and guessing it can be more on straight riding (no twisties).

Did find out that there have been police hired to patrol the Dragon (on bikes) recently. So keep that in mind when/if you go there.

The State of TN has taken control of the road. They did that two or three years ago. If you go there to play Ricky Racer, likely it will cost you. The Hellbender is more fun anyway. I hope to see the new bike in a couple of weeks!

Haven't been there, but on the Honda ST site they said that famous restraunt is re-opening next season. New part owner came on there and posted with some info. and confirmed that alot of remoldeling is gonna be done first and that it would be open for all to check out next spring.....Just a FYI.

Saw that bike when it first posted on CL here in KC. Entertained the thought of calling on it but really didn't have the money. Enjoy it, very nice looking XS.

I'd like to see some detail on the surround lighting. Is it off a Goldwing also?
