Honestly what is truely needed is a blocker to put on bikes so that when you are in a congested area of cars it would shut down the cells PDA's laptops TV's and GPS units so people could concentrate. Heaven knows the people in cars using these in heavy trafic are not smart enough to put them up.

Maybe we need a law that requires mandatory prison time for people when they are in an accident using these devices but then the highway would be clear. To me using an electronic device in a vehicle while driving is about as safe as getting on the street blindfolded spinning arround shooting a gun (maybe more humain) I know some companies have new rules that you can not use phone etc while driving because they have had to pay in lawsuits but so many still force employees to use them constantly.

I will say all this is nothing new because for years I have observed men reading the newspaper on their commute and women carfully balancing that cigarette while drinking coffee doing their hair and make up in the rear view mirror on the way to work.

I will say it is more balanced now that we have a distraction for the men to stupid to read and women to ugly to care what they look like.

It used to be you had to look to see who was out to get you. Now its easier you know any vehicle any moment can kill you at the touch of a key.

As for stickers its great but for cattle shouldn't we brand them.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Awesome article. Loud pipes would help get the attention of the idiots that should belong to D.U.M.B... Maybe not.. Bikes would probably get banned because the loudness interrupted a phone call or the concentration of reading an Email while driving...I know I'm speaking to the quire but zippin down the road in a can weighing in at over 3000 pounds requires a little bit of attention.

I found the article humerous and yet a point well made. Honestly, cell phones has increased the problems, but in 30 years of driving, long before cell phones were around, the same problem existed. The cell phones and gadgets we have today just let you see what is distracting the same idiots that before you had to guess what distracted them is all.

I heard tell of cops checking on a fatal car vs bridge abutment collision on Toronto's 401 highway.
The driver was found with an open porn magazine across the steering wheel and his fly unzipped.
looking on how he was coming rather than where he was going I guess.

Actually "quire" is archaic, but not incorrect. Today it generally refers to paper, but some choirs use the term to name some of their events and it can be alternated for choir.

There IS a device that will kill ALL cell calls within 50 meters, but it's a FEDERAL CRIME to use it. Hey, if it's in a rear box, no one will know!
As a HAM radio operator, I've had to learn the FCC laws in the USA. I am STILL thinking of buying a jamming device, though.....

Problem with that though is that instead of just distracted drivers (plus it will only block cell phones calls and not people typing a text or reading a text or the plethora of other devices and distractions) then you will have a bunch of pissed off people frantically trying to get people back on the line after the call drops. Once the call drops then the minuscule amount is attentions that is being paid to the road is then going to go to the phone as they look at it trying to redial.
