am i correct in saying the fj1200 evolved from the xj1100 motor design. to an extent im sure the fj1300 comes from the same origin. that being said anyone ever considered taking a fj1200 or 1300 motor and cramming it into an old xj or xs frame and see what would happen?

FJ
Could work but the FJ was chain drive so you would need to change the rear swingarm. .....................MITCHDoug Mitchell

There happens to be an FJ1100 sitting in my garage (SWMBO's). and I can't see any similarities between them. The timing cover is much smaller. The alternator is moved up on top of the rear of the case, near the starter. The FJ has 4 valves per cylinder. The oil filter is on the left side of the engine, and it has a hydraulic clutch. The XS engine may have been the insperation, but it definately is a different engine, and it is chain drive. It's wicked fast too. Blows my XS away easily, but there may be a big bore kit in the very near future.
