  • Need road trip advice

Leaving Atlanta on Monday, July 30 for 2-day ride to Springfield, Missouri. If you know of some killer riding areas between those two locations, let me know. I'll be returning Saturday Aug 4.

    Peace!

Last time I came back from Florida I stopped in Chattanooga, went up to lookout Mountain where you can see 7 states (at night I guess) and also the Civil war park and Museum/battle grounds just south of there was a mazing stop, all kinds of cannons, memorials and a killer gun collection in the museum.
I've never seen a collection so gigantic. Have a great trip and be safe.

There are a lot of great roads just south of springfield around Eureka Springs Arkansas. I've been there many times since it's only 150mi east of me.

Be sure and ride The Pig Trail (hwy 23), runs through Huntsville.

        Hey Mike,

Have a great trip. Stewart and I rode out west via NW Arkansas by Springfield MO to Coffeyville KS. Doesn't leave much time to diddle or get to far off the beaten path. I prefer not to take Interstate but needed to maintain a reasonable mph.

Wanted to skip GA and TN roads to get more time in AR & MO. Took I-75 to I-24 to Monteagle Pass then US 64 to Memphis. Neat roads in AR and MO. Hit the rice patty's in Harrisburg AR. Great-Great road was MO14 to Ava MO. A bit dangerous 70 miles at speed but a real thrill ride.

Many good road choices in AR. I'd use day1 to get into a good riding area in AR then have fun on day 2 routes to destination.

        See ya, Jeff

          Hey Mike,

I don't know anything about the states near Mo., but after you get back home, in the fall, you should run back up to northern Ga. for the Southeast Rally, see the Rally Forum for details and dates! Some really great twisties and scenery up there. Not sure if you have or haven't ridden up there already? Have a great and safe trip!

We need to talk you into a trip to NW Arkanasas TC. I haven't seen the roads in NC yet but I'm betting the ones over here as good as if not better.

Maybe Cruiser or Brent will chime in and back me up on this.

            Just sayin'.

LOL... Yeah, we couldn't wipe the smile off Cruiser's face for 2 days. I rode east a couple years ago and there were a few good roads we hit where a few miles were pretty good, but nothing like Arkansas where the whole northern part of the state seems to have been designed by road racers. But, to be honest, you can't judge the roads simply by driving through the state. You gotta do some explorin'! West Virginia had some good roads. The Blue Ridge Parkway bored me to tears due to it's 45mph speed limits where we were, but to judge something that long by riding 100 miles of it isn't giving it an honest chance either. Brent says they've got some roads east that are better than Arkansas'. If anyone would know, it'd be him!

Looking forward to the trip. New roads, new people.. and seeing some again that I've already met.

It's about 200 miles to Eureka Springs from there. West on I 40 for about 100 miles the turn north on HWY 23. That'll take you right up through Huntsville and onto The Pig Trail into Eureka Springs.

If you can't ride it at least drive it and you'll see why we go there all the time.

Some of the nicest riding areas I have seen when I was down there. Up here the highways are all straight and flat for miles and miles and miles.

In NW Arkansas you NEVER stop turning. It takes at least a day to get used to it. Cruiser came down from Minnesota in the spring. He found out how taxing they were. I think he went to bed about 8:00.

He looked like someone had been flogging him all day.
