  • New member saying hi.

Hi everyone, Just joined today. 57 from Northwestern Wisconsin. Been reading some. Looks like a great forum. I recently traded my boat for a 81 XS1100H.Has a couple issues like the speedometer not working. and pipes look rough. I was told 6k on it but I highly doubt it lol. It runs pretty sweet and starts good so I'm happy with it. I am also impressed with the reviews I've been reading on other sites. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.

Don't they call boats: a hole in the water into which you constantly throw money into?
The bike is more fun and I'm sure you get to ride it more often then getting into the boat.

You'll find that this site is full of knowledge and opinions and ideas.

Hey thanks for the welcome everyone. I've already used the bike in a few weekks more then the boat in 2 years. I got the invite to therally and will try and make it , I bartend at a biker/locals bar (The Broken Spoke in Earl) Small town south of me and not sure of my schedule yet. I think theres a party saturday. They haave a big campground close to a nice river. no quiet time.
Dragon mentioned something about coming up my way by the Chippewa Flowage as well so I may be able to meet up or get in on part of the ride.
Either way thanks for the hospitality and I'll try and hook up. I'm due for a longer ride. Be safe out there.

Watch out for that Dragon Tamer fella. He's nuthin' but trouble on 2 wheels. He'll have you riding down gravel roads if your not careful.

I'll take a couple soon. I think the avatar pic was from the original owner because it had a Wolf clan type image painted on. It was taken off since then.
I really want to get it cleaned up better. looked a bit negelected and if oven cleaner can't help the pipes I'm looking into warpping them,if possible.
Missing a side cover and tanks a little messed up. I've been touching it up some too. But over all it's a good riding/starting bike so I have high hopes for it.

                      Very nice. Cute gal too.

Should be a good one...those Venturers are the culmination of what Yamaha learned about the XS11 before they began planned obsolescence of the modern bikes.

                        Hi Ken and welcome,
                        Nice bike, cute (presumably) grandchild.
Just the speedo not working or the odometer too?
If nothin' works there's a chance it's the drive and that's an easy fix.
If the odometer still works but the mph stays at zero best start looking for a replacement speedo.
Unless you are really in love with the look, don't wrap the pipes; wrapping traps moisture and rusts them out.
If the chrome is truly FUBAR wire brush and fizz with BBQ paint.
You can do that with the pipes still on the bike if you are careful.

Thanks for the pointers Fred, were you referring to a BBQ paint for the pipes?
Also I appreciate the speedo pointers, neither one works The tack if fine.
