  • Well...Its done

Max is sold...Many Thanks are in order for all the help I have reccieved from you all over the years. A big reason this bike is roadworthy today...From Randy and TC to Mark(mlew) and all those from afar who have helped me with their technical expertise. For the majority of yrs in my owning this bike i wasnt aware of this online community of knowledge and support. Only since 2007 have I known of this fine group. The friends...the rallies the riding the internet interactions all have been appreciated and enjoyed and I have learned a great deal about the machines that Yamaha built. A sad chapter to close out my 29+ yrs of sole ownership of this fine old bike...only to have a new chapter begin. The bike will be ridden and used as it was intended to be used.
The gentleman who has bought it has been highly referred to this site by me..I nearly insisted he join...and he already has. He only lives abt 2 hrs from me and i have agreed to helping him out anytime he needs it...so it looks like I shall see Max on occaisions...and maybe at a rally too. I am hoping others local to me and him can get together to help as situations may arise.
I will leave it to him to introduce himself ...and I am confident y'all will help him as much as you've helped me...while this sounds somewhat final..it isnt... i may not post as often but i will not leave. Friendships last even after the bikes are gone........

Ben, as far Max is concerned, your doing it a kindness really. As we all have seen, sitting for years without use is harder on these bikes than thousands upon thousands of miles of use. Since you seem pretty comfortable with the ST, and are not giving the Max a workout, let a new owner give it the use it needs.

As to you staying here...well...ok..if you insist. (joking of course), heck we even let James England hang about with a signature that implies he still owns an XS11 even though it to went on to another owner. Although, he did move on to another Yamaha, and a clsoe brethen to the XS.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

Because i did advertise the bike had a touring pkg included in the sale price...the buyer really wanted to see the bike with the Windjammer and rear topbox and rack on the bike...sigh..I didnt want to re-install it but his interest was piqued and so i spent a day and a half putting it on one last time...so as it rolled out the driveway ...Max is dressed to say hello to the open road once again... Last time I'll post a pic of Max here...Time for a beer and a smoke...

MY BIKE! better save his number I'll have to buy it from him now. One day I'll have some cash for a newer bike, even if it's only 3 years.

LOL...yeah this one aint falling off...and that was a crappy as in cheap Jardine 4 into 1 with the oval muffler...I have since replaced that with a kerker that took me several years to find. New owner is on here but he must be shy as he hasnt posted...thats alright I'm sure he will as the need arises. Starting to look for my next bike and why am I still gravitating towards the XS11s'?..and have seen a few really decent rides forsale...but i am looking for a dual sport..........
