About 10 years ago I had a brown top quality Eddie Bauer bommer jacket and had quality issues. I had it no more than a month and sat in another leather seat one night and sat there for some time. When I got up I heard the sound of the leather separating when I got up. The outside material of my jacket in places had peeled off in several platches. I took it back and got a replacement but 2 months latter the zipper started failing. This jacket to later started loosing the outside finish. Eddie Bauer looks good fairly warm but quality sucks so......

I will not buy an Eddie Bauer product again.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

      Jacket

I have put on many miles riding a bike wearing a snowmobile jacket. Has armor & removable liner, vents.

Happy with my choice and not much snow in the deep south
It is a great big beautiful world out there

Hey, Brent! How does your wearing a snow mobile jacket keep it from snowing in the south? I have rain gear but it still rains in the PNW.

Since posting I now have the Icon Stryker rig (pricey but worth it so far). I've put on about 500 or so miles in the last week and am happy as a clam. For my outer layers in the cold mornings I just use my normal jackets I hike/backpack with (Marmot rain jacket, Marmot softshell, Smartwool sweater) and it has been FANTASTIC vs the leather. When it gets hot, like Saturday in Eastern Washington, I just wear the armor sans jackets. Layering is very convenient for rides in the PNW because the morning could be 55 and the heat of the day could be 90. All my jackets easily stow in the tank bag.

If I decide to ride in REAL cold weather I have a really sweet shearling jacket (smart eBay purchase of 60 bucks many moons ago) I can wear over the armor.
Haven't tried it yet, way too hot. I've worn the shearling in the single digits and still have to unbutton it from the heat.

I have my old Frank Thomas size 48/58 on Craigslist but typically detest dealing with the oddballs that send me idiotic emails that require a hieroglyph expert to translate. I would like to offer it up to anyone on the site for thirty bucks so long as shipping it doesn't cost more than thirty bucks. It has full CE armor and a Dainese CE spine protector. The leather is in excellent shape and I mink-oiled it last year. It has perforated panels front and back and "titanium" sliders on the shoulders. no liner, emblems removed. I won't be needing it anymore.
