Hello to all.

We are all aware of how old these bikes are and how troublesome it is to get good information and parts sources for them. Having said that, I just wanted to say that this XS11 website has helped me to no end. Thank you all for your input on the fixes and sources for parts, etc. I hope that I will be able to contribute to this vast knowledge base for these old machines in the future.

My XS11 history is that I bought a 1978 XS11 Standard in 1978. Sold it after several years. Then a year and a half ago, I decided that I wanted another one. So I drove from Atlanta, GA to Davenport, IA to purchase a 1979 XS11 Special and have been restoring and making improvements to it since. The information that I have obtained from all of you on this website has been PRICELESS!

Glad the site is a help! My story is close to yours, in that I had a '78 I took delivery of September of '77. Sold it about three years later to support a Jensen Healey, and replaced it about 8 years ago. Found this site, and I've been on it since. I have also learned a LOT from the members here, and now I can pass that along to the newer members.

These old Yamahas really get in your blood. I traded the first one off on a new Vmax in the 80's. I sold the second one a few years ago when I bought a new FZ1. I am now on my third XS1100 and this one will be in my garage for the duration. Other bikes my come and go, but the XS will stay.
