My SG was bought new in Jew Jersey (I guess). Owner rode it for 5 years, parked it in a shed where it hibernated for 20 years. Maximan bought it off eBay, hauled it to OK, made it run, sold it to me. I tagged it from the original owner, so I'm the legal 2nd owner. Kong lives in Oregon now and he's happy here.

Wow, Kong cross country. Sounds like a movie sequel.

That's the kind of story I was hoping to hear about when I started this thread. It's nice to know where these 'antiques' originated from.
I can use the word 'antique' because they are older than 30years, however they are still as strong as the first day they rolled off the line.

Jersey Jon, O.k.,The low down on Alpin Haus.My son-in-law works for them as service manager fixing RV's. They sell pools.campers, boats and jet ski's,as far as I know, they have never sold motorcycles.I'm thinking they may have taken it in as a trade for a boat or rv,and re-sold it as used and put there sticker on it. So,they are not the original seller of you bike,Sorry. My bike was easy to track down,Was sold in North Adam's Ma.Only two other owner's besides myself, and po was owner since 81. Name of dealership is Ronnie's motorcycles and there still in buisness, selling Harley's,Yamaha's and used bike's. Still have original sticker on bike, with no fading at all.

I bought my G from the original owner who bought it right here in Palm Beach county. I have the original bill of sale. He bought it as an end of year left over, paid $2,400 if I remember correctly.
My J came from a couple of counties north of here, St Lucie co. It also had a FL title, but I'm not sure of its provenance before that. Yet I think it's also a FL bike.

I wish I knew. Mine's a 3H3 which was imported into Australia in 2001. It had only 18,700 odd klms on it ( metric speedo) and was in mint condition, so must've come from somewhere where year round riding didn't happen.
I'd love to find out the history on it.

                      Hey Mstic and Greg,

The parts may have been made in Japan, but they were actually assembled either in the USA or country/territory near the USA. Back in the day they didn't make bikes larger than 500cc's in Japan. Mine came from the Navy Exchange in JAPAN, but it was actually shipped from the USA TO Japan for the NEX, and then was shipped back to the States in my household goods allowance as an E-5.

                      T.C.
Err, Ummm........ that's wrong! They were all manufactured in Japan, The front wheel, bars, mirrors etc was removed and the bikes crated up for export then those bits were refitted when the bikes were uncrated at their destination dealers.

You might be thinking of the Goldwings, eh?

You are correct about that. They WERE built in Japan, and shipped here. My first XS, from September of 1977, was crated and from Japan when I got it. I put it together at the dealer, including the Pacifico fairing and bags, myself. I think T.C. had his bike shipped to the US, and then BACK to Japan because of the US specification needed to be sold at the Navy Exchange.

The Fire Dragon came from Reichart Yamaha in Milwaukee. The original owner bought it there new and traded it back in six months later for something smaller. A friend of mine bought it just after it was traded in and owned it for several years until he sold it to me.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

That's correct. And they were allowed to build 500cc+ bikes, just not sell them in Japan.
