    What the ????

Is all of this white stuff on the ground here in the Dallas area this morning That stuff is supposed to happen to other people, not us living in Texas. There must be 3 inches of it on the ground, and it's still coming down. Hmmm, I'll bet I could do some wicked donuts in it though My kids are freakin'. They don't get to see it very often. There will be a bunch of accidents, I'll bet. These people don't get to drive in this stuff very often, so they aren't experiencedin winter driving. Good thing it's not a week day. The freeways would be at a stand still.

            Okay . . . well I wasn't going to do this to you but . . .

            WoooHoooo! The perfect winter storm!

We have 6-7 inches of snow on the ground and it is still coming hard. Fun!

"Why the excitement?" my winter weary northern types might ask . . .

Believe me I am not naรฏve about winter storms. I have been in some killers . . . I just do not live where snowstorms are a regular event.

Well you have to understand . . . we do have some winter here . . . but rarely is it snow. Typically we get ice . . . sometimes 6-7 inches of it. This is actually a natural disaster akin to a tornado or thunderstorm . . . weโ€™re talking powerlines down. Entire cities without power for days. Gasoline unavailable. Stores closed for days. Crews all summer ruthlessly hacking down trees around power lines just on the possibility of a winter storm.

People killed when 100 pound icicles fall off bridges. Roofs collapsing (6 inches of ice weighs in at something like 7 feet of snow, and you cannot brush or shovel it off). Cars actually frozen to the ground in driveways. Massive carnage on the freeways . . . as schools and employers got to much money at stake to recognize that the roads are actually dangerous. Sheets of ice falling off large buildings. Video of busses sliding down the 120 foot tall overpasses sweeping dozens of cars along behind them.

This time it is snow! Just snow! Kids can play in it! Snow-men can be built! There is not 6 inches of ice underneath a dusting to make driving, or even walking deceptively dangerous.

We have snow! Inches of it! Pretty!

And the best part? What makes this โ€œthe perfect stormโ€?

Well . . . we are going to have south winds tomorrow and temperatures in the 50โ€™s. Snow for a day! Pretty winter! Then, poof, gone. Iโ€™ll be riding the Dragon to work Monday.

            Gotta love those Texas winters!

Sounds more like flu weather to me snow one day be summertime the next.Ice is by far the worse.Give me snow anytime. Now you need some cold weather to freeze the bugs out but I think they just sleep closer togather. We dodged one the other day{snow storm}just got a trace. The timber all froze down.Living on a gravel road, learn to stay on the gravel to get off is to get stuck. The worse is yet to come the spring thaw when everything turns to mud. Catch you on the rerun.
