Please click the link for a slide show of the 6th Annual Ride for the Troops that was held Sunday, June 3, 2012. There were 412 motorcycles, with between 550-600 riders, they came from all over our state and even had a couple from Canada and North Dakota. The ride route took us on a 130 mile trip with two stops. The first 3 pictures were taken preride but all of them after that were taken at our second stop.... the North Entrance to Itasca State Park.
Every year I am amazed at the ever increasing support this ride receives from not only the motorcyclists that participate but also the support shown by the numerous people that line up along the side of the roads or park at intersecting roads and driveways to hold up flags, wave and watch the bikes drive by. But the most touching of all is when you are riding along and up ahead you see a little old man dressed up in his old service uniform standing tall in his driveway holding a flag and saluting the riders when in my mind it is US that should be saluting HIM (and his fellow service men)....
The outpouring of support for our troops by this community and the ride raised just shy of $20,000 this year. Enjoy the slideshow of pictures.
