  • Seat cover for a G ??

    Hi,
Does anybody remember who the ebay seller is that was selling the seat covers for about $50 ? I remember one of us here bought one and installed it and was very happy with the results. It looked very good from the pictures too. The only sellers I can find only have the pattern for the specials, I don't get it. I don't have a lot of $$$$ so anything over $50 - $70 is not doable for me at this time. My seat is starting to look a little ragged with rips in certain areas.
I have an almost new king/queen I took off shortly after I bought the bike because I found a really nice std seat to replace it.
    HELP!!!! Trade anyone ???

As a suggestion....... Walmart sells leather and vinyl repair kits for about $10. You could use one to patch the rips and tears in your current seat until you can find a suitable cover or replacement (trade).

I have used those repair kits before and they really do seem to work well unless your seat is too damaged. Was just a thought to help "tide you over"

      I have...

...a Saddlemen seat cover for an '80G that I bought from a fellow member awhile back, never used, still in the box. I'll dig it out of the garage tomorrow and post ya some pics.

Would You be able to post a pic of the King / Queen seat ?

      I may be interested.

This place is going to be a little higher than your top price at $78 + shipping, but they do fantastic work. It will look stock, but be made from much better material than OEM, and the thin piece of padding they sew into the bottom makes up for the compression that's happened to the stock padding over the years. I wanted the stock pattern back on the XJ, and my seat went from this...

        to this...

They are a really nice, small, family business run out of a shop behind their home. Give them a call if you need to and you'll talk to an actual person speaking english... albeit with one of those dang Texas accents. lol.

Make that a +5 I have used the seat covers on both a '79 standard and my '80 MNS. They are easy to install and look great!

Thanks for all your input, I 'll have to check Motorcycleseatcovers for sure.

Scming - Plz, see if you can find it, I'm interested. And here are a few pics of the K/Q seat on the bike. I'll look in the attic so I can tell you what brand it is. It's a nice one, I just prefer the std look.

Zookey - I have a Wal Mart nearby, I'll look for the kit.

Thanks again everyone. Keep them coming.

                Looks like...

...I got duped by the guy I bought the Saddleman Seat Cover from.

Turns out that it's Part # Y673 and is for '80-'81 MNS instead of the '80 G which it was advertised as

( open link and click on Fitment )

Sooo... if anyone is interested in this seat cover LMK.

Meanwhile I'll keep on searching for a MNS with a bad seat

                      Dale,
That cover looks sweet. I guess they're not that hard to install. Mine has those oversized staples and I don't have access to one of those industrial sized staplers.

I have friend that's in the business and he installed it for me. My old hands are too bad for that kind of intricate work. Plus.. I'm a lazy ole bastard!

There are several upholstery shops around here. Guess I'll have to shop it around if/when I get the cover.
Got the vinyl repair kit from the marine section at wallyworld. Going to give a try and I'll report back..
