Does anybody know of a replacement for the top gasket for the plunger that advance might carry? Plunger still wouldn't work freely so when I took it apart the gasket stay in, when I started to get it out the spring finally worked and shot it across the yard.
If not I'm screwed that was my last kit to work with and no budget or way to get another kit this weekend.

Replace it. I believe it's OK to run isopropyl alcohol through them. Make sure you don't leave any in your system.

For cleaning the existing lines, I put a piece of rubber and a clamp over one end and spray brake cleaner into the line, then hold the other end with a rubber gloved hand and toss it back and forth in there. Let it drain out, repeat till it comes out clean.

As for the cap, search the yard carefully, no replacement other than buying the kit I know of.

Do you have the 30+ year old fabric brakes lines still? If so, I would say replace it rather than try and clean it...

Appearance means little. If those are original lines to the bike, they need to go. They were due for replacement in 1986 IAW the service manual. Do the job right, or do it over.

I put an old plunger gasket that had a crack down the side in it for now, and to my amazement it is building pressure and almost bled now. I'm letting it set so the air bubbles trapped in side will travel toward the light.

I'm going to take my holiday ride today that I had planned all weekend to see if any of the work on the bike has paid off. The rear brakes are finally noticeable when I press them now, so hopefully new brake pads will finish fixing my problems.
Hope my butt is in shape for 150 miles of curves and back roads.

Thats awesome man. You ride it the 150 miles and you wont get rid of it. Mine was flooding out today. I would run good when i turned off the gas for a bit and as soon as i would turn it on it would flood. I need float vavle and seats but I just pecked on the carb bodies with a wrench and went ahead my 70 some miles with no more problems.

We made it in one piece. The bike handled and ran good. Rear brakes are still a little less than what I would I would like, but over all it was a good 120 mile round trip.

We road the "Back of the Dragon", google it it is well worth a ride if your close enough to Southwest Va to ride it. It's a good mix of hairpin and sweeping curves.

Also how many miles do you all normally get from a tank of gas, we rode 2-up the whole way across mountains and curves that would only allow for 2nd and 3rd gear riding and still had at least a gallon or little better of gas in the tank.

Mid 30's is about average MPG for these bikes.

Have you connected your left front caliper to your front MC yet?

No everybody told me I would have to get a different m/c for the front, that the XJ m/c isn't big enough to operate both calipers.

I like to wrap steel wool around a drill bit and hone it with oil of some kind. They polish up real nice that way. If you can't fix it, I'll buy all your brake pads, and front caliper dust seals. Seriously. I need a right side battery cover too.
