I saw a deal I could not pass up. I have been looking for a 650 to move my son Dylan up to from his XS400. He needs something more suited for longer rides if we go to Sturgis this summer.
I found a new ad (20 min old) on CL for an 82 XJ550 w 29k mi for $700. Young kid bought it last summer from a local dealer that got it at auction and fixed it up by adjusting valves, cleaning carbs, new battery and new back tire and painted it all in black bedliner textured paint which looks better than it sounds and sold it to him for $1100.
He got it registered and inspected, then his uncle got deployed and left a Harley in his care. The XJ sat since Sept and now won't run.
Battery was only strong enough to weakly turn on blinkers and click..
I offered $600 cash and he took it.
Trailered it home with papers all signed and ready to transfer. Now I got something else to clean in the ultrasound machine!
After the Rally I will put Little Ranger up for sale. Pics tomorrow in daylight.
