  • Universal Cafe Fairing

Hey guys, thanks for all the help last year with advice on getting my bike in good riding condition. Oh, first, here is a picture of it before I put on new tires, air box, and highway pegs. http://www.zoerman.com/bike2.jpg

My question; I like the look of the Cafe Fairings on the XS11's. - I am thinking of buying a Universal one that will fit a 7' light. - I have a 79 XS11 Special. (Lots of them on eBay)- Has anyone put one of these on your bike? do you recommend them, or have any advice? Cheapest place to get one? I do not want a big ol' grandpa lookin windshield, but need a little less wind resistance when riding on the highway.

Good looking bike.Checkout Dennis Kirk or J C Whitney,I think both have something you might be interested in.Prices are not bad either.Hope this gives you some ideas.

        JC Whitney Fairing

I have a small universal fairing on my 79 SF. They warned me that my headlight-mounted turn signals would get in the way of mounting it and they did.

I was planning on cutting slots for the signal arms but my brother suggested we bend the mounting brackets and work around them. The result is a not-so-snug fit against the headlight but I think it looks great and has a noticeable effect on wind without sacrificing any road illumination. With the super bike bars I installed, it gives the bike more the sport-touring look I prefer.

Mine form JC Whitney has a bit of a warp to it that I could never quite get out -- not bad but something to look for. And, if you haven't had wind-screen before, watch out when riding in windy conditions. I barely notice it now, but at first I was suprised by how much more I got pushed around by the wind out on the Interstate.

          Thanks ElCid,

I ordered the fairing that has cutouts for the signals, so hopefully it won't be a bear. I have used sport fairings on bikes in the past, and know what you're talking about. I also have standard bars on the bike, so it should do ok.

I have small fairing That I bought supposed to fit an xs11 I'll never use it now That I've bought another xs that has a full fairing installed. It's free to anbody that wants it For the price of shipping should be about 10 bucks or so. If you close to southeastern CT or Portsmouth NH I might even deliver it when the weather is warm enough to ride.

JC Whipme fairing installed, looks good, has a small lip at the bottom similar to the old Seca. It is a Maier fairing and cuts the wind so that it hits about eyebrow level. I guess I'm a happy camper! A short ride yesterday confirms.
