  • Something Interesting in the Mail today?

    Hey Folks,

I've been using Netflix for years, and have always received OEM original movie discs...pressed kind. I received a movie today, and when I opened up the package I was rather surprised to see this!

The center hub has a professional style sticker with the matching Netflix # on it along with the barcode, but you can clearly see that it's a home style Burnable/Burned DVD-R disc...not a factory pressed one?

What I'm wondering is IF they are being allowed to burn a copy of a movie that they may have already purchased from their supplier/distributor but has either gotten damaged or lost/stolen by a netflix member?

OR...are they trying to cut down operating costs and just burning their own copies that they send out to members/renters????

Has anyone else received a COPIED/Burned type movie instead of a factory pressed one in their Netflix??

I wonder if someone lost or damaged their DVD, burned a new one, and sent back? Maybe Netflix is just rolling with it? Seems fishy to me...

Funny thing is, my wife rented both versions European and American and saw the movie int he theatre. I showed that to her and she never said a thing about it being legit. Since she is a lawyer, I will give he penty of grief over this one!!

The funny thing is, there are posts all over the internet about this. You KNOW they did it on purpose, to get this very response out of people! Very well done IMO. The only way you know that the disc is legit is the graphics on the right side, with the rating and copyright info. I bet someone in the graphics studio is laughing his head off at how easy this one was to put together!

It has a couple scenes that are pretty graphic. The European version is more graphic. I have seen both and they are truly two different movies. I was shocked to see how different they were.
