Polaris outsourced to Mexico about a year and a half ago. Still in all they are a very impressive machine. The only free air cooled engine I know that is capable of idleing for an hour in 105 degree weather without damage. VERY quick for a v-twin also. The Old Tamer

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

On top of that I am a bit suspicious of the newer "blacked out" Harleys. I personally kind of like the look but have never known any Harley to run properly unless it is adorned with at least 300 square inchs of chrome. The Old Tamer

Got one!
And it was promptly taken over by my wife! She spent about 10 minutes aquainting herself with it in the parking lot at work, and that was it. The bike was made for her! Really fun scoot to blast around on and very stable. Not a ton of leg room for long legged types, but enough I can still have fun on it as well. Great potential to build also, and I have a ton of parts on order for it already. Got to take it 'off the showroom floor' as it were, and I can't be happier so far. Stay tuned for the upcoming mod work...

Ray nailed it--I'm looking for something that would have respectable power, but not out of hand. Really, something to make into kind of a street brawler look. I want it to look mean but polished, if that makes sense.

By the time he is done with it will probably look like this.
Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas.

Ha, nothing so radical! I'm thinking clip ons, 2-1 pipe, lowered headlight, and clean up a few things. The wife won't let me go too overboard, I'm afraid...
This bike is sweet to ride though. Entirely different than an inline of he same power to ride, but really fun!Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die

You gotta be careful in the garage, though...the floor is really slick!
Those Acewell gauges are pretty neat. And one of the cool features is the 'peak hold' for max speed/ RPM so you don't have to watch it and try to remember. REally useful for tuning also.Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die

...and here I started out with an Original 1948 "48"....
It was a beast. 3-speed, left-hand shifter on the gas tank, hard tail, car tires front and rear. I had the optional leather saddlebags. My good friend Sam had a "74" and we would ride together.
Sold it to help pay for college.Jerry Fields
