I should have kept up with this thread a bit earlier. I went to college in Honolulu in the early 80s. I did my first jump with Jump Hawaii--this was in the static line days. They had a jump-equipped little Cessna and a bigger Beech for relative work. My instructor had a great line. He said, "Ok, every once in awhile the static line will jam in your harness and you'll be dangling at the end of it, towed along by the plane. If this happens, and you're conscious, put both hands on your helmet, and I'll cut you loose. Pull your reserve right away. If you're unconscious, just let your arms dangle at your sides."

It was a fun couple of jumps, but I ran out of money after my first 3-second delay. By the time I had enough to hire the crew, most of them died in a crash at the Hula Bowl. A lot of great guys. I think Byron Black's widow sold the company and it might still be operating. That was out of Dillingham Airfield, which may or may not still be there. Spectacular place to jump (or glide).

That was an old one in New Orleans on a paddle wheeler cruise on the Mississippi for about two hours..that one just sorrta was there when I looked thru my pics and so..what the heck throw it in.

Nice pictures. Interesting stone work on the bridge. Double stacked containers makes for a heavy load. In the last one did you go for a ferry ride ?

Howdy ya'll..been out camping and doing nothing.Settin' round a camp fire and watching trains.Gotta put some pics on photojunk to post.
Need to look after bike to get it started but leaving again tomorrow for two nites down in KY.

If you want something down ask a busy person. Right now I am soo busy doing nothing I don't have time to do anything.

Did take my neighbor to Ault and Alms Park today,he had never been to either.
If you haven't been to either parks in years,they are really beautiful right now and as close as you live..well worth it.

Just goes to show ya you do not mess a landscapers tools and expect to get away.Had a blower stolen last year,not cheap,4 stroke two cycle Stihl.

So far as Lunken goes,used to fly out of there around the city on those cheap tours,We went to Kelly's Island one time in a Cessna and had lunch there and sneaked into Canada a bit.

Lunken's cool. I used to like to go up to Alt Park and watch the planes take off and land when I lived down that way.

Problem is Doug I don't know how well my new ankle will do.Have three more screws coming out,no big deal but if I hit wrong who knows.Besides I am to Dang scared of heights.Did go to Lunken today and watched the planes and had a beer at the Sky Galley.

Yes boss...but I know what you would with me..I hate heights over ten feet but always did wanna jump like my dad.If I ever do you will be my partner I am hooked to.

I've been out of it for quite a spell, and I wouldn't trust myself at altitude anymore. Forty years of smoking and the thin air at altitude don't go well together. But if you want to, I can sure point you in the right direction. Tandem masters don't come any better than Gary Arnold at Skydive Greene County. That's all he does. He does tandems at Greene County until the weather gets cold, and then he goes to Thailand and does 'em there until it warms back up. He's probably got ten thousand or more tandems. Definitely the guy you want to be strapped to.
