  • Pilgrimage to Mecca

A few of us visited the Barber Museum in Leeds, AL yesterday. I took a few sample photos. There are over 200, so don't look if you're in a hurry.

Great pics. I was there last June. So very, very impressive. It's cool to see grown men just walking around with silly smiles on their faces.

          Wow

I didn't know such a place existed! I presume they are all in running condition, so where do they get parts? Have them machined special? The only way it would be better is if there was a Brazilian steak house on the premises!

There was no food on the premises that day. They're open for seven hours and that is not long enough. All those photos I took is a small sample of what's in there.

If they need a NLA part, they make it.

And that is in Alabama? Looks like it is time to google and see if it is within a day ride distance!

                Hey Joab,

Yep, it's just a few hours north of Enterprise up near Birmingham, Mom and I went there one day of my vacation, took a few hours to get up there, spent several hours there, and then drove back! Easy day's ride and visit.

I have been there, the National Motorcycle Museum in Iowa, and Wheels through Time in NC. They all offer something, but Barber is the largest and prettiest of the three. I would go there tomorrow, but I think I need to replace my battery.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

                    Hey TC,

Thanks for the info. I will have to map it out, and maybe try to ride up there this weekend or next. Make for a great stress test for the bike set up!

Keith Code was hosting one of his California Superbike Schools when I was there last year. I just went to his site, and his School will be there when I come through in June for the family vacation. I may just have to take the Level 1 course.

There is also a small museum in Central Cal. http://www.motosolvang.com/ . Just a few hours from South or North CA, and WELL worth the ride.
Yes, I will need to ride East to visit the big one, but until then this will have to do.

Joab, it's about a 4 hour ride from you, near Birmingham. Big place, most of the superbike and other racing events are held at the Barber's Motor Speedway.

Next weekend I might try to make a run up there, if I have this oil leak fixed by then.
