    Hey Mike,

Did ya make it home alright last week?? You ran into some real nasty weather on your trip home. Sorry I couldn't put you up for a night or two. Portland was pretty much shut down until Friday. Were you able to make it home on Thursday, or did you have to wait it out here in Albany?? It was good to hear from you. Hope to catch up with you this summer.

    Hi Jim

I woke up Thursday morning to see jack-knifed semis strewn all over I-5, so I headed west to Newport, took the long way around over the Astoria bridge etc and emerged onto I-5 at Olympia just in time for rush hour, whew what a long trip home, but hey, cheated death again

Sounds like you had a really full house! Maybe we'll hook up even before summer, with all the California trips I've been making lately.

Glad to hear you made it alright Mike. It didn't even occur to me at the time to suggest the Hwy 101 route. They were in the 50's at the coast while we were still trying to get up to 32.

Hey Gary, how ya doin'? It's been about six years since we really got any snow to talk about in NW Oregon. Then we got freezing rain on top of that. The last time I recall we had the freezing rain like this was the winters of '78 & '79 when I was living in Portland. The airport in Portland last week was shut down from Monday night/Tuesday morning until Thursday afternoon!! My son few in from CA at 11pm Monday night. I think he was one of the last flights in before they grounded everything. We are back to the normal 48 degrees and rain right now. I'm sure glad we don't get the kind of cold you get there on the east side.
