  • IE9 weirdness...

Well, I got 'upgraded' to IE9 and a heads-up; posting pics now works different...

I tried using the 'insert image' icon and the pic doesn't show up, just the red X in the box...

But when I used the 'insert link' icon, it's there....WTF?

    Anybody else run into this?

I've always just used the IMG code from photobucket.

That's what I'm using, but the prompts have changed. Where before when you clicked on any of the 'insert' icons in the message toolbar, you got a 'allow script' message at the top of the screen. You had to click on that, then re-click the insert icon before you could paste the URL. That has now disappeared, now I get a 'V-bulletin' window right off the bat where you paste. I'm using the IMG code from PB, but if I use it with the 'image' icon the pic doesn't come up. Use the 'link' icon and it does...

It seems to be working backwards.

I don't even use the insert icon, just put the IMG code right in the post.

I've never used the insert image icon because I've always seen that anyone that used it has always had an extra [IMG] tag in front of the image and an extra [/IMG] tag after the image because photobucket already puts all of that in the code it puts in the clipboard when you click that dropdown menu, so you get it doubled, IE9 must be trying to fix it on the fly. If I understand the picture link thing, it's for pointing to where you only have the http address of the picture without the tags, but I've not seen that since even though my version of IE has been 9 for quite some time I've not used IE for anything that didn't pretty much required it for a couple of years now at least, I use Google Chrome, at least when I'm not using my tablet or phone.

The only time you need to use the Image link button is when you want to insert an image that is displayed somewhere other than a Photobucket "bucket". You can post the web address of ANY static picture from anywhere on the web (as long as no login is required to get there) and have it display in your post. I outlined this in my picture-positng instructions here.
                  1980 XS850SG - Sold
                  1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

If you hit the enter key and start a new line before the copied image the words will appear above the picture. If you hit enter a couple of times the pics will have spaces between them. If you do not hit enter and keep on adding to the same line one after another we will have to scroll across to see the pics.
Nice bike try a few more pics just for giggles.
